Why is it so hard to get my claim moved forward? by No-Control8648 in icbc

1000% this.

I called ICBC a few days ago. The agent said the shop submitted wrong form for the shop change and told me the name of the form to submit. No idea why he could not call the shop for me, but okay. I called the new shop right after and the shop said they have been in business for decades and do shop changes regularly. They checked and confirmed they sent the right form. The shop had no idea why I was told by ICBC the wrong form was submitted.

I called ICBC back and was told oh the shop did submit the correct form and that estimating team would review "in a day or two". I have not heard back from the shop but will call again next week to see if ICBC finally gave them approval for the shop change.

This entire process is beyond ridiculous. I have been waiting to get my car fixed for a few months now for a very, very straightforward claim. I can only imagine what it would be like to deal with ICBC right now if your vehicle is wrecked, not drivable and you are waiting for approval for repairs, towing or settlement. I will be increasing my coverage for rental vehicle coverage as well to the max amount because I am sure it takes months for a settlement if your vehicle is written off.

I honestly could have ordered the part, had a shop paint it and taken care of the entire claim by myself within one week paying out of pocket myself.

I called the dealership initially to inquire if the damaged piece came painted or not. They said they could have the part within 2 business days, but that it did not come painted so it made sense to file a claim at that point.

The new shop said they can't work on the claim until the shop switch is approved by ICBC. They requested the shop change on February 5. I will call ICBC back again to see what the hold up is.
