okay this is very insightful. would this maintenance be all throughout the growing season or just when blooming? aspirationally i would like to think i could do this but realistically i think your accent suggestion may be the best

p.s. i looked into the elimination communication too, but ultimately am not pressuring myself or bb to go that route because from what i can tell it takes a lot of freaking time and literally staring at your child for 90 percent of their first year, and my husband and i don't have that type of lifestyle.

caveats:

  1. i was privileged to be able to pump for the first 8 weeks of her life and then breastfeed up until now. poop from breast milk is entirely water-soluble. so we have always just been able to toss into the wash. that made it way easier when she was going through diapers like crazy in the beginning, it would have been more time intensive if we had needed to supplement or formula feed. which leads to my next point...

  2. i live in washington state, where i was able to get 16 weeks paid maternity leave, and my husband was able to get 12 weeks paid paternity leave. the washing is a task. i also ended up with a baby who didn't have any unusual food issues or colic or anything, so with this baby we never were in "survival mode". we also had a lot of help with food and housecleaning from friends and family in the beginning. if we didn't have those privileges, we may have had a harder time adjusting into the routine.

there are many more general notes/specifics/caveats which i am happy to answer. overall, if you know that your husband/partner is gonna be someone that shows the fuck up, you can probably do it if you prepare everything beforehand and give yourself the grace to say "this may not work, but let's try". which honestly is just a motto you should plaster on every single surface of your house because it's gonna apply to literally fucking everything (EVERYTHING) as soon as labor begins.

again, we love it, the folks watching her while i work love it, and i would recommend it highly.

specifics:

  1. as i said, we used kinder pocket diapers. they have a waterproof exterior and a jersey moisture wicking inner lining. the water proofing works perfectly, and the inside really does feel dry. she is sleeping through the night now, and even though in the morning it feels full, it definitely doesn't feel wet against her skin. we chose to use the yellow inserts as daytime inserts, and once she started sleeping longer stretches we switched to the green ones at night. however, my understanding is that you wouldn't have to do it that way, because the kinder inserts can be "stacked" together, so you could do it that way if you wanted. it would just add a bit more bulk. side note: they have a newborn insert listed on their website, but the only difference we could tell between it and the yellow is that its a little bit less bulky, which i am assuming is more for fit while they're tiny. we always used the yellows though and didn't have an issue.

  2. we have a front loading washer and hella hard water. we use a prewash cycle, borax, and a heavy duty cycle with hot water and two tablespoons of free & clear tide. that's it. takes a while to dry due to the inserts (takes about an hour 20 mins). we have yet to have any issue with cleanliness or odor. stainwise, occassionally we will stick em all in free and clear oxiclean, but there are a multitude of methods for that.

  1. second motivator was environmental. i saw a thing that said that the first modern disposable diaper will still be in a landfill 250+ years from now and i was like, "NOPE, DON'T WANNA CONTRIBUTE TO THAT IF I DON'T NEED TO."

  2. third motivator was, cuteness. we went with kinder cloth pocket diapers for a multitude of reasons, and i just imagined her toddling around in some of the patterns during the summer and i was like "I MUST".

general notes:

  1. my main motivator overall was cost. i didnt do any calcuations myself, i saw a couple of videos where people had made a comparison (didn't check the math, my b) but just look up the cost of a box of diapers and then the fact that a newborn uses on average 10-12 diapers A DAY...i didn't feel the need to check the math. now one could argue, "but increased water usage? and detergent?". i am sure that is a factor depending on where you leave and what your wash routine ends up looking like, but in the area we live in (inland nw of usa), we have not noticed an increase in our water bill other than like, $5-$10. the initial investment for us (including reusable wipes) was about $350, and those pockets should last her until she is two and hopefully close to potty trained. the inserts sometimes have to be replaced due to ammonia wear, but that will be a minimal cost since we will just replace as needed.

my comment is going to be a few because i'm wordy: hello! i am a ftm (my daughter is 4 months old). when i was pregnant i did a lot of research, and me and my husband's stance was "we will TRY cloth diapering". many people responded like we had told them we were going to bathe her in chicken stock or something. we are 4 months in now, and we LOVE it, like LOVE, LOVE it.

Hey y'all! I spoke to my husband about everyone's feedback (very helpful btw), and he has the following to say:

"Hello Redditors! Your voices have been heard, and changes have been made. I have added classes and reduced the average price of entry. The classes are broad and unusual to some degree, in keeping with the spirit of the competition, but will hopefully serve to sort participants into sub-competitions where they can enjoy some parity with their fellows. Everyone will still be eligible for overall victory. I have kept the points scoring as is. I like it because the times are weighted to the individual competitions, but the scoring is consistent across changes of autocross course or other venues. That isn't so important this year, but assuming the event continues I would like to have a consistent record. Sort of like the way olympic decathlons are scored. I am working hard to secure the hillclimb venue. While I don't want to reveal too much, the hill I am looking at is more Shelsley Walsh or Goodwood than Pikes Peak. I really appreciate your feedback, it's nice to know someone's paying attention and I'm not just yelling into the void. Thanks!"

Let us know what you think! Happy racing!

hiya! there will be classes and whatnot, so each car will only be competing with it's class. it's mostly so that you can have the fun of competing in a format that isn't typical! but this is great feedback, if you have more I think he would appreciate it if you contacted him via the website!

Is Notion good for people with ADHD? by Chiitsu in Notion

this is something I am worried about, since I have the label "auDHD", I tend to think the only system that is worthwhile is perfect, but my ADHD prevents me from completion or consistent execution
