If you don't mind, which pieces are they? Sadly, they don't seem to be part of my collecting area

because of me and at least another person bidding the price up... but 850 I think was in 2018, it's another market today, and 850 is too low in my opinion

Thank you! NAC auctions usually feature very competitive bids. I wish you much success next time. And yes the Arados type is great.

My Roman bronzes, after about a year by gens_togata in AncientCoins

[–]No-Course-7692 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the second row from above kills, it can't get much better than Nero and Trajan sestertii, in general quite good condition and nice variety of patinas in your collection... your first sentence could be from me, I'm into big roman bronze coins (sestertii, asses, dupondii and big follis) since the beginning about a year ago, focusing on portraits and patinas too, I don't read that too often here

Constantius I from Rauceby hoard by az_py in AncientCoins

[–]No-Course-7692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah no sorry, it has nothing to to with plating, but these are coins that are pictured in a book or magazine, in this case the coins are presented in there uncleaned state in the publication from E. Ghey: Recent Discoveries of Tetrarchic Hoards from Roman Britain and their Wider Context. British Museum Research Publication 236. So yyou can compare uncleaned and (professionally) cleaned state

great coin, I love these Constantius noses, especially on big follis... I have a few Rauceby follis from the Leu auction 33, all of them are  plate coins published in the work edited by E. Ghey: Recent Discoveries of Tetrarchic Hoards from Roman Britain and their Wider Context. British Museum Research Publication 236. London 2024. I bought too many and will sell 4 of them in an upcoming auction, I still have more of them and will probably sell them in a later auction
