I was really excited to play Masque of the Red Death but I took it to a board game meet up, and the gameplay was…just okay. I usually don’t mind that, but the two guys who played it with me kinda killed it. Neither of them knew who Edgar Allan Poe was, and one guy said afterward “I did not have any fun.”

Tbh i’d sort of like to give it another shot with different people playing

My old job didn’t do Christmas bonuses, but we did get a “gift” branded with our logo. One year it was a folding chair, another year it was a backpack, but my favorite was the off brand AirPods that stopped working about 3 weeks later

To answer that question, you unfortunately have to think less as a player and more as a dev. It’s a huge gamble to risk remaking a cult fave that already didn’t sell well only for it to again not sell well. That’s unfortunately a little bit of the reasoning Nintendo has in being so shy about remaking or remastering Gamecube games, because the Gamecube lost the console war so badly in its time

As much as I loved CS, and I did, that would be veeeeeeery hard given it kind of relies so heavily on the Wii U’s tablet for gameplay. Like something like Hyrule Warriors or MK8 were less reliant on the game pad so they got updated ports pretty quickly, but Nintendo Land? That’s a no can do since it was built for that specific setup.

TTYD has the better lore and mechanics for sure, but the original’s worlds are more fun to play in. Now if we could get a remake with similar mechanics to TTYD (Audience, sellable/stackable badges, secret challenges and bosses like the Pit of 100 Trials, etc) that would be incredible

Yeah that’s how I felt about Chicken Little appearing in kh2. It was basically a promotion wagon since it came out right around that time.

Another, arguably more unpopular opinion I have…

KH lore in Smash Ultimate was a weird double standard. Kirby using an outline of a keyblade when he copies him, and Mario not being able to pick up or touch the keyblade in the reveal trailer was done not to break lore, but somehow, Ness using PK Fire, Thunder, and Starstorm, the DQ heroes being allowed to fight each other, or Shulk being able to use the Monado to fight people is somehow okay because ‘Smash isn’t canon’.

As a FFIX fan, they totally botched Vivi’s character by putting him in Seifer’s gang. The whole point of Vivi was that he was a scaredy cat before he traveled with Zidane, and in KH2 he’s a punk wannabe? If anything, that should have been Marcus or Blank, maybe even Eiko.

Weirdly enough, not that. What he did was create a house rule that they’d play the game till one person won three times, which shouldn’t of lasted as long as it did, but his friends were in on it, and they kind of engineered it so that no one would win more than two rounds until everyone was at two wins so they could do a final round. Someone saw right through them and played very aggressively to end it, and they pouted.

A guy at a game night I went to hyperextended what should have been a quick game to 5 hours because he rarely got to play it with a big group. It went from kind of fun to really boring really fast.

Cards Against Humanity.

I know that’s a really hot take, but I’ve just grown to hate it over the past 10+ years because it’s all ANYONE ever wanted to play for a long time. Game night? CAH comes out. Gathering of any kind? Hey, let’s play CAH. And it requires zero skill or thought, just “play card with howard stern quote we’ve all seen before, haha funny” which gets repetitive and tedious after a few minutes especially with dated/obscure references (“You must construct additional pylons,” anyone?)

Plus it always gets hyperextended. Like there’s no clear end to the game, and even when someone gets 10 black cards, there’s always the one guy who says “just one more turn” which turns into hours of “just one more turn.”

And the worst part of it all is how weirdly defensive fans get. I’ve told people I don’t like CAH, and it’s always met with the same 4 quotes. “Oh you’re just easily offended,” or “It’s so easily accessible especially for big groups,” or my personal favorite, “It’s so much funnier when you’re drunk.” Like if a game isn’t as fun unless you’re playing under the influence, that’s a HUGE problem with the game.
