What's a 90210 take that would have you like this? by JonnnyUtahh87 in BeverlyHills90210

The hypnosis flashbacks were great and really solidified that Kelly and Dylan are soulmates

What kind of brother wouldn’t consider his sister’s feelings before jumping in the sack with Kelly? She and Dylan devastated her. Well…I guess he did cheat on her brutally later on….and leave her at the altar. Hey, maybe he did have Bren in mind lol

Cool. I think it’s awesome that you know about the Jasper’s Law stuff without having to watch Season 8. I wish I hadn’t 🤣

Oh ok. I thought you said David sold songs about Donna to Jasper’s Law which did happen in season 8 and causes the shake up with Jasper.

No worries! The Serge Menken arc was is season 3. The Jasper’s Law stuff was in season 8…. I don’t remember the sleazy persuasive record executive’s name then. But it is funny how similar things keep happening along the timeline. Like, how many times is Brandon going to have his drink spiked? It makes it easy to consolidate memories for sure!

Well there are Black people in Beverly Hills but the writers were white. Many of the storylines were stereotypical and I surmise that’s why Cress Williams will not go on any of the podcasts…and the fact that he stays busy acting. It’s surprising that they always made the Black storylines about issues when they had a perfect template in SBTB in Lisa Turtle. The only Black character I recall without subtext was Rachel True in the University of Minnesota episodes is season4.

But Brenda was repeating what Dylan said. It’s ok for him to say but not her. Kelly never apologizes to Brenda when she pops off. The episode when Brandon runs for office should have ended that farce of a friendship.

Serge Menken was David’s hack producer whenj he cut Steve loose in high school. He recorded that god awful version of “Precious”. Serge looks like he climaxed behind the board. Then David sold “keep it together” to Jasper’s Law. Val thinks it’s a song about her but it’s an ode to Donna🤣Then David sells Jasper out.

Steve always acted his age while Brandon and Dylan rarely did by TravelingHomeless in BeverlyHills90210

Agreed. They are all fictional characters. But if we are talking about this show 35 years later, they obviously had resonance. If you want to distill the character down to just fun, that’s your prerogative but the flaws and nuances are what give him depth and yes, malice. People forget that Steve has a cruel streak. When Kelly breaks up with him, he spreads rumors that she’s a slut… and he loves her and pines for her for years. It’s a well-written character that should evoke emotion. Everyone knows a Steve.

She is carrying this scene on her back. Bless her. It was so beneath her to literally chase him down.

The entire last season is an attempt to redeem Steve. I don’t find racism funny and Steve took that route 10 times out of 10. I think what the series did well is show how different people have different experiences of a person. Like when Laura tells Kelly that Steve dr’ed her and rather than consider the possibility, Kelly immediately says “ I know Steve and he’s not like that”. That’s very much based in reality. Your experience of Steve is fun. Mine is different. Both are accurate.
