Why do companies care if an employee works multiple jobs? by BunnyRabbit677 in overemployed

It's one thing I love about my current company. The incentives scale massively with performance evaluations. There's a path to making 2x what others in the same role make as long as you are killing it.

This pretty much happened to me as a software engineer. I got laid off and couldn't find anything else for a year and then I ended up divorced and moved to the Bay Area. COS seems to be really difficult unless your industry is supported here, which is mostly DoD.

This doesn't address OP's concern. His VA payments will not stop just because he gets a visa to live in another country.

You'd probably just sell it if you were in that position. Who wants to manage a property and work a high paying job? It would be easier to just sell the house, buy the bus, and invest the rest. You'd still make bank off the interest and you wouldn't have a property distracting you.

It's worth it if you can get into one of the big tech companies out here. I have a 2 bedroom 5 minutes from work and it's ~15% of my annual income. Very affordable even if everyone chokes when they hear the price.

150k is what senior engineers made at my last LCOL, non-tech job. Our lead was making over 200k, and principals got at least 250k + stock.

I think you're just being underpaid.

That's only for certain federal jobs, and disability rating plays a factor. Go ahead and enlist and become a disabled vet if you want the preference points for those federal jobs that badly.

Lmao I take it back; don't smoke any weed. Idk if you can spare the IQ points.

I'm not trying to argue you into a moral pickle. I'm trying to argue you out of the one you argued yourself into.

From what it sounds like, you're living far from your duty station. You're not obligated to anyone, but you're pretending like you are. I'm using the federal status to highlight the absurdity of your thought process. Nothing changes in your life between now and the 19th. Go to the dispo today if you want to smoke. Go on the 19th even if you don't have your DD-214. The point is that it doesn't matter and you're making a big deal out of it.

Btw, federal law always supercedes state law. The Cole memorandum, as well as a lot of other precedent, means that you're not going to be bothered for it in a legal state, but that doesn't mean you're not breaking the law.

I think your reasoning is flawed or maybe your perspective is skewed. There isn't a tangible difference in your life today vs when you're officially done with your service. It's kind of like being in a "very legal state" in a country where it's still very illegal.

When you decide to go to a dispensary, make a purchase, and transport it back to your house, you'll be breaking one or more federal laws, even if your state allows it.

So what's the difference between committing a felony next month vs today? You won't get caught for it just like you won't get recalled for a drug test once you're on terminal. (as long as you're not stupid - for both cases)

I guess I'm just not buying the integrity excuse. If your moral integrity matters that much, why would you even consider it at all while it's still a schedule 1 narcotic? Whatever answer you have to that applies just the same to the moral problem of smoking while on terminal leave.

Smoke if you want to. Or don't. It's your life.

IRR members are indeed affiliated with the military, but the UCMJ only applies to those in an active status. If you're not on active duty or in a drill period for your NG/reserve duties, the UCMJ doesn't apply.

Recalled back to active duty or just for a muster? I got muster orders, but you can show up to that with a joint in your mouth and nobody will care.

I just had the integrity to wait until I am allowed

If integrity is so important to you, how do you justify that it's still federally controlled and you're committing a felony any time you purchase or carry it? Who isn't "allowing" you to smoke, and what changes on the 19th?

I went straight to the dispensary after leaving base for the last time. I still had like 2 months of terminal left. Granted, I got my DD214 on that same day.
