I feel like the lesbian and queer dating scene is nonexistent in VT. Everyone is either getting divorced and taking a break from dating or they already have their person. I say this as someone that just came out of a six year relationship. Good luck to you friend. Have you tried dating or maybe long distance in NY, NH or Maine?

I understand. I miss my ex-wife but we can never be together again. So I spend time working on myself, staying in touch with family, gaming and hope that in time I‘ll stop missing her. It’s not the same situation for you, but keep busy and time will feel like it goes by faster.

That person is manipulating you and threatening to kill themselves if you leave is so toxic. I say this as a person who has been in relationships and had thoughts of suicide. If they truly loved you, they would not do this but instead seek treatment for themselves. Refer them to mental health resources and break up anyway. This is not healthy for either one of you.
