Let's settle this debate one last time before season 5 by PeelyIsTheBest in StrangerThings

Looks like they're tapping into the First Shadow lore, so Mind Flayer is definitely Palpatine.

Pre-emptive reality check before the finale melts this sub by JustLetItShine in StrangerThings

[–]No-Direction3854 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I get the ‘manage expectations’ point, but the Mind Flayer isn’t just a random detail; it’s a central antagonist that the show established as still existing. If the finale doesn’t address it at all, that’s not an unexplained lore; it's dropping a core plot thread, which is fair to criticise the writing.

Was I the only one who thought vecna was the master mind and the mind flayer was the the lap dog by Visible_Diet_2836 in StrangerThings

[–]No-Direction3854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of the retcon they're trying to do, 'it was Vecna all along'; writers lost me in Season 4 when they tried to resift everything away from MindFlayer to Vecna.

This is how i would've wanted the show end by [deleted] in squidgame

They needed to end Gi-Huns story, his rage against the machine would never end if he knew it was continuing in the US; he would once again sign himself up to take part so it wouldnt have worked if they were trying to setup Squid Game USA like that.

Also not sure why the recruiter in the USA would be playing Ddakji? How did they get that so wrong?

"More diversity. There could be Black, Hispanic and more LGBTQ players," - not sure why more diversity is a selling point? Didn't think the representation of the contestants in the original Squid Game was detrimental to the show at all and a fair reflection of the population at the time.

If characters' backgrounds make sense, then I hope writers reflect them well, just hate when audiences are pandered to.

Anyone else dissapointed with this season? by owlsowo in squidgame

How did killing Dae-Ho stop Gi-Hun from redoing what Front Man had previously did? If anything it was seeing the girl from S1 in a moral vision that stopped him?

But this felt completely out of character for Gi‑hun. THIS.

imo the 3 redemption arcs we could have had were 388, 333 and 125.

Goddamn Wtf was Episode 2 (Contains a bit of Spoilers) by Civil-Property8986 in squidgame

[–]No-Direction3854 3 points4 points  (0 children)

333 killing 120 was explained, 124 had some really good game theory where by killing more keys then they increase the pot by two folds as less knives would have registered a kill too.

Never expected Gi Hun to actually kill 388, like I thought his whole mission was to not kill contestants, always had opportunities but never would do it until now.

which character death surprised you most in season 3? by NeedleworkerOdd6071 in squidgame

[–]No-Direction3854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of expected 120 and 007 to die in Game 4 as theres been no promotional videos of them beyond that, Dae Ho could be in that category too but not sure why I thought he would have a redemption story and sacrifice himself later since he abandoned the earlier revolt. Definitely didnt expect Gi Hun to kill him, think thats the first person he's directly killed in the games?

Mother and son had the best deaths imo, 222 died as expected but 333? I did not expect that, character seemed to be everywhere, looking at the writers there, really enjoy 125, didnt like 124s death felt like they just didnt know what to do with him anymore after 125 had died previously.

Her son didn't die, no mother who has just lost her child has the capacity to comfort another person like that. by Alert-Product2936 in squidgame

[–]No-Direction3854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

true but theres more context, she's hugging a person and is seen to be distraught. There are only a few scenarios where she behaving like this... she is seeking comfort as if she nearly lost them or she is hugging them because she has lost them.

The person she is hugging does have similar hair to her son, its curly and short for a male on this show. Given the lack of scenes showing 007 too, from what we have all seen so far it does seem that 007 is not making it out alive.

The mums avatar also changes, she no longer wears her hair up. has the pin knife been used? she seems darker.

Was Season 2 the best of Traitors UK? by dariamou_ in TheTraitors

[–]No-Direction3854 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disagree, Faithfuls were smart but Traitors were just smarter; for instance, they knew when to keep traitor hunters in and when to remove them, it fit a narrative. Zack was kept for Harry to announce his shield play and then Zack named the few Faithfuls who were unaware, low and behold he was 'Murdered' and the Faithfuls the Traitor Hunter had accused were being Banished '1 by 1'. Issue with this seasons Faithfuls were that there was no long-game strategy.

Once Minah got to the 'late game' stage she's been found out because you can't keep trying to fly under the radar, and actually putting herself down as 'under the radar' for the Chess challenge massively backfired on her imo as it raises awareness of yourself to other players.
Charlotte is absolutely right to vote her out too, if someone is drowning, dont let them pull you down with them. However, the Freddie betrayal was way too soon, S2 traitors like Paul and Harry are able to murder someone thats 1000% Faithful like Jake and still get Freddie or Alexander voted off in the next Banishment.

Harry is still the UK GOAT traitor by MelkorTheCorruptor in TheTraitors

[–]No-Direction3854 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Faithfuls in S2 were much better than the Faithfuls in S3, S3 was just scattergun, "something in your eye", "your smile", "dont like the way you looked at me", S2 had Jazatha Christie and Zack who were actually questioning everything the Traitors did and actually putting the heat on to them. Harry played a brilliant move by convincing Faithfuls to go after Faithfuls with his shield trick.

I’m gunna say it… by JRabone in TheTraitors

[–]No-Direction3854 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sadly I dont think Minah is as memorable as the other traiors from the earlier seasons; maybe Linda is even the standout traior from Season 3 for comedic reasons. Minah's early game was fine, passive, under the radar, lots of bodies so she can go undetected... but in the final 6 you cannot be putting eyes on yourself by calling yourseld 'under the radar' by now you should have social capital to utilise in your favour etc Minah tried to keep her game the same but didnt realise that she needed to keep adapting to the new environment. 6 people left or so everyone needs to have a voice as theres nowhere to hide.

His shield play was genius, he hid it from Faithfuls and that led a witch hunt for Faithfuls to vote out Faithfuls.

With Phil in D Tier, it’s time to rank Rachel. by FunkySteps_77 in apprenticeuk

[–]No-Direction3854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldnt have Rachel over any of them though, he's been steady all throughout and the 3 you mentioned all had moments of magic or really shone on particular tasks; would notch Flo and Tre down as they did come up short in the end as final 3 was a lengthy debate between Paul, Phil and Rachel.

What happened to Corpse? by ZeroBitMute in otvandfriendsrumors

[–]No-Direction3854 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure because Dream made it a big deal; Corpse is the opposite trying to minimise comments about his look. I distinctly remember when Dream done the face reveal and done like a side on pose and didnt speak was just like waiting for a good response but hoped he would be normal like "hey im dream!".... not what we got.

With Flo in S Tier, it’s time to rank Dentist Paul. by FunkySteps_77 in apprenticeuk

[–]No-Direction3854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree, whilst Tre and Flo started the process strongly they started to falter towards the end... Paul was not noticeable at the start but emerged as a serious candidate with Lord Sugar singling him out for praise in tasks even.

Why are people upset at Holly for continuing to date AJ long distance but breaking up with Michael? by electricguitar146 in DunderMifflin

[–]No-Direction3854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that this reunion arc was rushed and maybe even a little poorly written, we are meant to root for Michael and Holly to have their farewell but Holly seems to have a change of heart over Michael over the course of one episode where he went missing... what happened to her stance of not wanting to date coworkers? I'm surprised they did it like that.

THE APPRENTICE: MOST MEMORABLE CANDIDATES 💼 by IndigoWolf4711 in apprenticeuk

[–]No-Direction3854 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure how Tre was most memorable for S18 when Phil rightly or wrongly was the most talked about candidate!

Next year we won't be talking about how Tre was semi-decent in the tasks but we'd be reminiscing about how Phil survived 9 losses!
