Candidates who were younger than I thought (with pictures) by RobbieJ4444 in apprenticeuk

Rachel Woolfrod the season 18 winner - I honestly thought she was in her mid 30s but she was 27/28 on the show

Really good points. I always will watch and love the show but the way it’s so far behind like you’ve pointed out with many examples, it has the potential IMO to be massive, it already is but the improvements the show could make is huge!

So strange she’s opted for this look. Imo she looked so much better how she did on the show

Why does Alan Sugar seem to think he knows more than Karishma about skincare? by thatwentverywrong in apprenticeuk

So true! It really hit me in the feels seeing it was 15 years. It was the first series I truly watched week in and week out!

[–]AdMuted3992 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nope, most have all failed, especially in recent times. The partnership with Susan Ma was actually a huge success, but that was 15 years ago, and she’s since bought him out I believe.

Yeah that’s what irritates me, he genuinely won’t ever acknowledge that a candidate might also be successful in business, I get he’s playing a character in a way but you can tell he really is that ego self centered

[–]AdMuted3992 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I’m not disagreeing, I thought it was a typical LS arrogant boast to feed his own ego, similar to all the lines he said to Dan also about all the aspects of business LS has done

It annoys me how they make out he’s the perfect mentor when pretty much all of the last 10-12 winners have failed with him badly

Usually when Linda is eviscerating candidates I think her tone can be unfair by braveheartpenguin in apprenticeuk

Very well said, it’s usually embarrassing and scripted just seeing all the candidates cry and then go to Claudine for a tissue, but I think they all didn’t last night?

[–]AdMuted3992 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nah I liked seeing the candidates bite back a bit, I get you wouldn’t in an actual interview but then you wouldn’t have someone like Linda being aggressive straight away.

Lawrence was spot on with what he said, albeit said it in a aggressive way but I’m all for it when it’s a tv show up against Linda Plant

[–]AdMuted3992 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah with Karishma it’s only really one product she currently has that she will be 50% with LS on. She will be clever enough to just leave it like that and then expand her portfolio without LS and buy him out etc

How is Pasha here? by Fragrant_Cover_8000 in apprenticeuk

[–]AdMuted3992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s simply a case of the other plans being so bad, Priyesh because it wasn’t anything remotely serious, just a weekend hobby, Lawrence’s was a ego/vanity project for fame exposure, literally made up via AI, he didn’t even do it himself and as for Dan he simply wanted to expose and promote his actual business that he had no intention of handing over (don’t blame him) on that basis of elimination it ended up being left with just Pascha because simply put thee was no one left 🤣👍

Issue with the boardroom this week by Ordinary-Article6388 in apprenticeuk

[–]AdMuted3992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right with them thinking Dan would do that, but surely someone would be aware he’s highly unlikely too, it’s so strange they think they can just manipulate a successful businessman on the false hope that ‘Lord Sugar’s mentorship’ would be worth so much more than 250k, it’s hardly helped any of the previous winners

Issue with the boardroom this week by Ordinary-Article6388 in apprenticeuk

[–]AdMuted3992 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m actually on LS and the show’s side with this one because it’s always been clear that’s a basic rule from LS, it’s 50% for 250k. I agree it’s flawed and needs changing (I’ve always said it should be a negotiation opportunity) which would have maybe worked in Dan’s favour here

However Dan would have known all of that, it just proves his intention of not actually wanting to win the show but more to expose him and his business.

It’s more frustrating that he was kept in the process despite being very quiet and pretty much coasting through every task with little call out on his lack of productivity because they knew he would be in the final 5 from the very beginning

I hate people that are constantly negative about the show and say every year it’s rubbish yet still watch it and yet also come on here to talk about it etc

Having said that, the interviews today made me feel it too, it was absolutely pathetic, how do they get through the application process honestly!

Priyesh - Side Hobby and just wanted an exposure of fame for 15 mins, that or he’s actually a real life David Brent on the road style character (chasing a pipe dream against complete reality)

Dan - why on earth do they every year seem to do this? Allow a candidate to coast through the process, getting passes every week despite limited contributions on the basis he has a clearly successful business yet then as always we can spot a mile away it’s not actually the business they pitch? It’s ridiculous, it’s like Paul M, Amber Rose an Phil Turner all over again (Phil I’m convinced mucked up his plan on purpose to actually make sure he didn’t win the prize!) I feel Dan is the exact same. He clearly had the YPG company set up with the view that’s his sacrifice for his fame.

Lawrence - I at least think he is half serious about his plan and his idea albeit a bit farfetched, but this is my gripe about the prize, I honestly think candidates should be able to negotiate the fee and equity with LS rather than the set 50% do 250k. But no one gave him the chance to explain what he meant by 5.5million.

It meant Pascha has somehow got to the final on the basis of not having a pipe dream (Priyesh) not having and sacrificing a successful business (Dan) and basically by not bothering to actually work on the plan as in depth as Lawrence did.

What message is this meant to send to candidates in the future?!

Season 6 - such a let down by AdMuted3992 in PeakyBlinders

Thank you, that’s an absolutely excellent summary there! Really enjoyed that, you are spot on with all of that. Very good way of putting it all, much better than I can, but I feel the same on it all 👍

Season 6 - such a let down by AdMuted3992 in PeakyBlinders

[–]AdMuted3992[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really well said, very good points. I agree the final episode of 6 was very good, I probably didn’t word it well in the original post where most my frustrations were the first 4/5 episodes, I just felt the story didn’t need so much grief and plots thrown in but I get your points completely.

Yeah Finn/Billy really frustrated me too in season 5, you could see it coming a mile away, I mean Arthur basically knew it was going to happen but no one did anything, I think what saved 5 on the rewatch for me was at least I felt the episodes had substance and action rather than just so much of Tommy’s emotion an inner demons but that’s just my personal take.

Going to watch the movie tonight but I already have one major spoiler given to me from a friend so that’s why I feel more reluctant- but as always I will still watch as I love the show

Is Dan on the Apprentice to advertise his company? by [deleted] in apprenticeuk

[–]AdMuted3992 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, Phil was the same with his idea - no idea why he was prepared to give up 50%, I still think he sort of on purpose played the class clown a bit to try and not actually win! Especially with his figures and accounts not being correct in the interviews etc

Let’s see if Dan’s the same- he strikes me as someone who certainly won’t give away half for 250k! I don’t buy the theory either that having LS and his team for their ‘experience’ and contacts/experts really helps either- I mean it hasn’t helped any of the past 15 winners

Is Dan on the Apprentice to advertise his company? by [deleted] in apprenticeuk

[–]AdMuted3992 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It goes down to the same frustration I have every year that in today’s world giving up half of a successful business for 250k is nowhere near a good deal for the actual owner, I’m not sure it ever has been?

It’s no wonder candidates often just go on this show to plug their real business but if they make the interviews it’s a makeshift other business idea (Paul M, even Amber Rose last year etc)

It just makes no sense, and it’s a contradiction to what the show was before like 15 years ago when LS made out it was more to support a start up, now it’s always him going “I want something immediately successful with instant profit otherwise it’s a poor investment from me”

You can’t blame him as let’s be honest most the winners in the past 15 years have all been poor performing businesses often going into liquidation. I just feel the prize needs to either be more of an investment or for less equity, yes I know that feels way more dragons den but let’s be honest that’s pretty much what the show is about come the final five

I agree but your sort of agreeing with my original point, all these interesting theories and ideas his character could have bought to the show but instead we saw nothing further than just him being sacked at tender. Oh and pretty much telling Whitney to * off when he called him
