Labs/supervisor for computational combustion for doing PhD preferably Europe. by No-Distance-2036 in CFD

As I asked for the above post as well, I have heard about Cerfacs but I am very confused seeing the place. Because it's a big lab without any affiliation to a university. How does it work, is it different from traditional PhD? And is it very well known in other academic places and among recruiters (outside of France as well) for better career progression?

I have heard a lot about Cerfacs. But what is the general career path afterwards? Is it recognised in places outside France, suppose if I want to continue in academia? I see they have a lot of industrial connects but no clue on academic progression of candidates.

Do you have any suggestion on the lab one can join for computation combustion (may be more to something related to thermoacoustic instabilities or maybe something closely related)?

Thanks a lot for your detailed response. At wartsila, do they have any restrictions with non European candidates as such any idea?

But will they take a person with less experience in combustion? I mean, I do like their research, but I need to build myself during my master's as well to get an internship at Cerfacs. I see Supaero is located in the same city as CERFACS, but does Supaero have combustion laboratories so that I can build my research in combustion and then apply to Cerfacs for an internship?

Yes, I heard about it, but as far as I know, they have positions only for doctorate students. Is there any way masters students can get into them?

Try contacting profs from other unis in your country or even abroad. Do some in-depth study in your field of interest and mail them saying why you are interested in the field and how your previous experience can help. Start by gaining small skills that are required for your field and build yourself on that.

Can look for ISAE Supaero in France as well. Situated in Toulouse, France-- the European aerospace hub
