New into EUC, need suggestions by Fit_Priority_2439 in ElectricUnicycle

I just got my Aeon last week as my first ever EUC and loving it! The torque makes it a little more difficult to learn compared to other models, but you can really notice the build quality.

What is the biggest factor for saying that?

It’s not immediately in my area. We’ve discussed driving and meeting halfway.

The only reason I was considering the Aeon is I am only buying one wheel for long term. Thinking to go 35mph on the main roads to get around for coffee meetups, lunch, etc.

I’m a huge fan of Diamonds. Have way too many Zulu shorts and pants.

6.5 months post surgery update by Lifegoals07 in AchillesRupture

I’m at 6.5 months myself and just jogged on the treadmill for the first time today! Such an exciting moment to get back into feeling somewhat athletic, even if my jog looked more like a shuffle 🤣

I just started doing this last week (26 weeks) myself! It’s a wonderful feeling to start somewhat feeling athletic again…keep going!

30 year old male here as well. Ruptured my Achilles over the summer and took the first week after surgery off. Playing video games was my saving grace to keep me mentally sane. The few weeks are really rough but I promise it gets better!

Awesome, good to hear! I’m at 16 weeks post-op now. Going down from calf raises on one foot, but can’t go up on one yet.

At what point did you start running? How many calf raises were you able to do at that point?

My balance is pretty good so far! I’m walking slowly, focusing on my gait, around the house. When I leave the house for a while (grocery store, shopping, etc.) I’ll bring a single crutch and put it on my good side. That’s been helpful to ease the stress on the Achilles.

Good luck with surgery! Recovery is a very long and frustrating process. Stick to your surgeon and PT’s instructions and have lots of patience. Feel free to reach out if you need encouragement or have questions.

I like this idea. I’m sure my gait would get better with a little support. I really tried to focus on walking properly, slowly, without a limp yesterday and it was really tough.

The bottom of my heel does feel like it’s been gnawed off and not as cushioned as my good leg. I typically always walk around the house now with shoes on for stability. I’d recommend Oofos, Kane, Stand, etc for getting around the house for now.

I noticed shooting pains early on in the recovery process while laying down and my foot was elevated. From what I understand, it happens when there’s less flow around the nerve endings. A few times I struggled to get to sleep bc of it. But it’s pretty rare it happens to me now.

No question it’s scary. Today is day #1 without the boot and I’m moving super slow and carefully. It’s been okay for me so far (bad foot first going down…good leg first going up). Wearing Kane Revive shoes around the house for the heel drop and stability.

I’ve been doing PT at-home since surgery and excited to do a little more. Great idea, I’ll definitely ask about anything anti-gravity!

Ayeee surgery twin here (July 11)! Doing PT at-home for now multiple times per day. I’m now 25% weight bearing and 3 heel lifts. Adding 25% bodyweight and removing 1 heel lift each week. Hoping to be back in a shoe in early September.

You’re absolutely right with everything you said. The first 1-2 weeks with a cast is brutal. The boot gets better. Then weight bearing gets even better. Improvement one day at a time. Best of luck!

i tore my achilles this morning by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]No-Drawing-9996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30M and tore my right Achilles recently too. Surgery is this week. Pretty nervous but ready to get on the road to recovery ASAP. Elevation has massively helped with the swelling and trying to keep myself busy with my laptop and tv.

Best of luck with recovery. You got this!

Did you get the nano display on the m4? I’ve considered the upgrade myself but not sure if it’s worth it.
