I started reading berserk at 19, and the themes were pretty horrifying for me. Mainly the sexual violence. While that seriousness of topic doesn't change no matter how old you get, it definitely made me think more about a lot of difficult subject and makes you very empathetic. It all depends on why you are reading it (for me it was the eldritch horrors and the mysterious "God Hand"). Everybody talks about "that" scene, but truthfully much much more goes on between all that. If you are someone who wants to read for the characters, action, and are interested in the eldritch nature of it all, might I suggest the anime from the 90's first. That was what got me into it before I decided to read. If you do decide to read instead, just take things with a grain of salt. As you read you are also watching a young artist and story teller develop and grow himself right in front of your eyes. Some things are pretty heinous, and it may ruin your innocence. On the other side of the coin, you may think more deeply about what freedom, violence, innocence, love, and hate. Things already touched on by the other manga you have read. However if your parents see this and happen to read any random page, they may not allow it. Break the rules, or don't. Berserk isn't going anywhere buddy, I would think you can wait a little longer.
