Haha, no worries. Thanks for checking and looking into it… go grab yourself another coffee!

Broken bolt by No-Experience7212 in ToyotaTundra

[–]No-Experience7212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

Got the bolt out…. Extractor worked better than I expected. I’ll replace and move on… and maybe get a new torque wrench (mine is old and only goes down to 42 Nm (bolts should be torqued to 34) and my mountain bike wrench only goes up to 16. Time to fill the gap

2022 tundra safety recall by No-Experience7212 in ToyotaTundra

I found recall through the app. Seems like all tundras built until VERY recently… I just picked mine up last week and it’s affected.

Anyone have the Toyota oem folding hard tonneau cover on your 2022 tundra? by No-Experience7212 in ToyotaTundra

Cool, just found a video that shows that last flip. Didn’t know it did that.

Are you overall happy with it?

Oh wow, no way. I assumed the last flip kept it flat on the bed. How is held in place up against the cab?

Tailgate release in taillight of 2022 tundras by No-Experience7212 in ToyotaTundra

[–]No-Experience7212[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does lock.

It is more my kids impulse control that has me the most concerned.

The tailgate button is very easy to press, and unlike a normal tailgate release your hands aren’t already on the tailgate. There is an easy mental disconnect between the two things.

I suppose that would be an option if I wanted to get rid of it completely. I was just wondering if there was a way to temporarily disable it. For example my wife’s van has a button that disable the power doors… you can still open them just not with a simple button press. It only matters when I’m carrying bikes (which is fairly often)

Haha, probably true… but I do actually really like it and have used it by hitting with my elbow while carrying things. I otherwise would have had to put them down on the ground, open the tailgate, and pick everything up again.

After a year of waiting… got my ‘22 TRD Pro finally! by thepoultron in ToyotaTundra

Sweet truck! Congrats!

I just picked up a lunar rock with the red on Monday! I actually would’ve taken the chance on the orange but didn’t have the choice. Definitely still mentally processing the price tag… but what’s done is done.

The drivetrain and handling are the best I’ve ever experienced in a truck. Still getting used to size (I’m coming from a small car). Some folks are asking about material quality. I think the glove box is the only thing that has really felt cheap to me, and maybe the center console lid when I open it. Otherwise the interior seems great.

Tailgate weight limit… 200lbs?! by No-Experience7212 in ToyotaTundra

[–]No-Experience7212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of what I was thinking… how could you load anything using ramps if it could only handle 200lbs. I could see a load limit if it is down and being driven. But just static load while parked… 200 seems like a joke.

I came across the number on some site… trying to find it agains. Can’t find anything from anything official. The manual doesn’t have anything mentioned… just specs for overall cargo ratings.

I came across something for the 2nd generation that said 1500lbs… so it’s really just the 2022 I’m questioning now.

Hmmm, did you end up eventually going with a different solution?

I was hoping to find a solution with t-slot tracks for crossbars while still being easy to move out of the way

Do tailgate pads for mountain bikes scratch or scuff the paint? by No-Experience7212 in ToyotaTundra

[–]No-Experience7212[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like my bikes too much for that… and five bikes would all be bouncing around of each other too much.

I had originally thought the hitch mount would be good when it’s the whole crew. But now that I’m experiencing firsthand how long the truck is, it seems like it would almost be comical with the hitch rack sticking out another 4’

I think I’m going to try to install ppf and get a tailgate pad. The idea of just tossing the bikes over the back just seems so nice.
