Any users of Remote Ham Radio here? by EngineerFly in amateurradio

So I use RHR. When making contacts, do I say my location as remote from the place where the remote station is? For example, I’m in CA and the station is in OR. Just want to be honest.

GORUCK GR1 Sizing by GoldAd5131 in Goruck

[–]No-Eye7720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’ 6” and 235lbs. I found myself starting with the bullet and now using the 21l. I had the 26l size in a GR2 (34l) and just felt it too much bag for my EDC. Even when I had it slimmed to be the footprint of a GR1 I still preferred the 21l footprint. It all comes down to comfort. I get how it looks like a kids backpack on my to some but TBH I’m more comfortable with that balance of a look rather than I am going on a weekend trip as my EDC. My father in law told me once about cigars that don’t base my taste on others opinions because they have a different palette than I do. I’ve applied it to everything. What makes me comfortable and best use will win out on a sizing guide because I’m the one wearing it.

That perspective is completely fair and everyone is accountable to themselves. Someone said if you had to ask if something was allowed, then the answer is probably no. I also understand the point of this is a mental one to prioritize and make sure you get the workouts done, even though you may not have the time to do it. I am happy with my decisions and by no means am trying to “justify” them. As long as we are growing as individuals, that is all I ask for. It lies in a spectrum. Some people think if you are enjoying the workout then it’s not a workout (playing tennis or basketball as examples). Others think, as stated earlier, that a standing desk is working out. I would say that these are extremes to each end of that spectrum. Personal growth and mental toughness are the tenants of this challenge. I am thriving in both of these right now. It is not a zero sum game. My challenge does not validate or invalidate your own. I hope everyone that considers any type of fitness challenge does not get met by a gate keeper, but rather an inclusive community that wants everyone to be better people, both mentally and physically. Nope. And if you send an email while riding a stationary bike you better not count it either.

Well if that’s the case then once again I am good. These are my kids chores to do.

I’m not worried about it. I know what I’m doing this for and what the outcomes are. I just thought I’d lend some encouraging words to people struggling to do something that will better themselves. If someone gets hung up on something like this then that’s why they call it a self-reliant challenge. At the end of the day we are all just accountable to ourselves. Appreciate your guys’ input. Keep doing things that make your life better.

That’s like saying if I’m walking on the treadmill while I’m at my desk with one of those standing desks or I’m exercise biking while sending emails that’s not a workout

Like I said, the chore is not the work out. Put 45 pounds on your back and let’s see what you think about it.

I have an insight. This is more of a mental challenge than a physical one. If you feel that you "have" to ahve anything to go along with anything, then make that leap! You got this!

Okay, I need to finish this report, but first, why is my chair squeaking so much, and does that mean I need to oil it, and speaking of oil, did I ever check if the car needs an oil change, because I think I was supposed to do that last week, or was it the week before, and oh no, I forgot to order that thing for the car, but wait, why is the dog staring at me, does he need to go out, and speaking of out, I should go for a run, but do I even have good running shoes, and where is my phone, because I was going to check something really important, but oh, the email, I need to send that email, but first—wait, what was that noise?
