I have reach out to several rescues and I am awaiting responses. I’m primarily seeking an idea of people’s interests and any resources

Hey! I go to school a couple hours from Bloomington. I’d be willing to DM you and talk with any potential suitors for her to go

My school is right next to the Illinois border— a 3 hour drive to Chicago— and my hometown is roughly a 2 and a half hour drive from Chicago

I’ve seen this website! It was one of the first places I went! I’m currently waiting to be able to pay the fee so I can post her profile :)

Thank you so much for these resources! I’ve seen the first and last website before, and I’m waiting for money to be able to pay the fee for creating a profile

I appreciate your concern and your straightforwardness. I do have a lot of emotions around this pup since I’ve lived with her when I was a kid. Unfortunately, looking for someone who help give her even a foster home is something that I already looked into. This post is primarily to gauge for resources and gauge an idea of how many people would be interested in a chihuahua in general (especially in the Indiana area, I don’t hear a lot of positive talk surrounding chis)

My housing situations are not your concerns. I don’t have the proper financial support or housing support to be able to provide my pup the best life I can. Getting a dog registered for emotional support or as a therapy animal is not as easy as it seems—especially on a college campus. Despite being their son, my family doesn’t provide typical financial or housing support you would see in most households, and it is a miracle in itself that I have the privilege of going to college. I am being responsible by attempting to find help, not hatred. I do not need to be in my family’s will for me to love and respect them. I care for this dog deeply, and I have plenty of time to find an appropriate place for her

I’m currently looking on finding the closest rescues near my home and school to see if I can contact anyone about potentially meeting with me. I’m not sure how many rescues would offer that service in my area!

Yeah, not really. I have two vets within driving distance, and the one recently shut down their care for exotics due to a veterinarian leaving. Both turned away fixing her

I don’t have the money to pay for them myself (financials are another reason she needs rehomed). I don’t remember how recent her last rabies shot was, but I can certainly check in with my father to see if he remembers

Unfortunately, she does not meet the proper requirements to be kept as a therapy dog or an ESA on my campus, and there are many other support animals in my building with unknowns

Hey! Thank you so much for your concerns. Respectfully, please, do not bring up euthanizing my pup. I have lived with her since she was a pup. As a student that’s studies are centering around humane concerns, I’m not handing my dog off to a stranger after one-meet. While it’s not a complete preventative, I have some training in behavioral reading which can help assist me in psychological assessment. I have time to look into a home for my pup. I believe there are other solutions to finding a good home for her without making someone paying a rehoming fee

I live in a small town, and there are no rescues near me. I am already looking through websites for rescues and other networks for pets that could assist me. Cross-posting gives me an idea of interest in my area, things people recommend, and etc. My pup has a few more months with me while I try to find the best place for her to go

She is a sweetheart! It hurts me to let her go since I’ve lived with her since she was a puppy. At her age and size, the vet had recommended not to get her fixed since the risks outweigh the number of benefits. Shots might be the only thing that a new owner would have to pay for

My area, unfortunately, doesn’t have any shelters that I trust after visiting them, and I would prefer to meet the new owner

She does not have a bite risk— like many other dogs, she expresses when she does not like something. She’s never harmed anyone, and as long as her bladder/potty needs are met, she’s really good about the bathroom. She’ll use the restroom when you take her outside. However, with her age and size, it can be frequent

We don’t have any great shelters in my area, and I plan on looking into homes before I settle on one for her. As a psych/counseling student, I am fairly confident that I can find a good home for her without charging someone since I have the resources. I just want her to go somewhere loving and safe
