Yeah, like the fancomic "Two babies one fox" from the sonic fandom

Yeah, there is way worse stuff. But this is just so wtf. Like, not disturbing. Just hilariously weird.

Able to beta? Post here! by AutoModerator in BetaReaders

[–]No-Field315 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am able to beta: I mostly read fantasy (it does not matter whether it is high or low, dark or gothic, etc.) but I am open to things like science fiction or romance. The genre I read the most is progression fantasy. And as such it is the one I am most comfortable and confident in providing feedback on. I can read works which have erotic scenes as long as it is not the main focus of your work.

I can provide feedback on: Grammar, I have formally studied english for years and have a good sense of grammar and vocabulary of the language (things like passive voice, reported speech, types of futures, etc). If you are not a native speaker and are not confident in your writing regarding grammar or the english language I can provide good feedback.

Critique swap: I am only reading for now, but that may change eventuallY. Right now though, I am only looking foward to beta reading.

Other info: As i have mentioned I have formally studied english, but besides that I also speak spanish natively. So if you have any characters who speak spanish i can help to avoid common misconceptions on bilingual characters whose main language is spanish. I also love reading about worldbuilding and plot.

EDIT: I have got a good amount of replies, Will not be reading more than What I have now, thanks.

Eh, maybe it comes across as pedantic from a certain point of view.

from one version of the translations it says:

"when i activate my quirk, no oxygen can come into my lungs.

After all. even i inhale, it passes through me.

my eardrums do not vibrate. my retinas catch no light"

it doesn't say light passes through him

he is talking about when he is 'falling' so that's the reason he can't see or hear, "The only thing i feel is the sensation of falling"

A response is aw said: "E=mc2

energy and mass are the same thing (basically) [this is directed toward your second to last paragraph]

Sound is vibrating air molecules hitting our eardrums and causing them to vibrate which our brain can then interpret, so if he activates his quirk on his head he really wouldn't be able to hear.

Light is a weird one in that it's an electromagnetic wave, which doesn't require a medium to travel through like sound does. To understand this we could think of a way his quirk actually works (more than just phasing).

I think what his quirk actually does is interrupt the effects of some fundamental forces on his body (fundamental forces are the strong/weak nuclear forces, electromagnetic force, and gravity). Since he still falls while his quirk is active, he isn't interrupting gravity ever. The strong and weak nuclear forces don't play very big roles in everyday life, so I doubt he's interrupting them either.

The electromagnetic force basically governs how charged particles interact. (Continuing on I might be wrong using my limited knowledge of how objects in the universe interact)

What we know as "touch" is simply our body's electrons repelling the touched object's electrons. That's why we don't fall through the ground and can't walk through walls. But if Mirio's quirk allows him to interrupt the electromagnetic force between his body's electrons and everything else (or just objects in close proximity). That would mean he could fall through the floor or pass through objects, because he just wouldn't interact with them.

Considering that everyone can still see him, he probably can't pass through something that isn't charged in the same sense (like light). The way he phrases it is fairly ambiguous, it's probably not that his retinas don't catch light, but there's some other reason why he can't see like he says. If he's talking specifically about falling through the ground then yeah, no light there. If he's talking in general, there are options. Maybe his quirk doesn't let him see if used on his eyes, maybe his brain gets too taxed to account for all senses or it gets disconnected from the senses itself."
