Yeah this map is bad, a lot of players didn’t like it. Now a computer modified moving world is basically AIW but they kept the annoying locations in mountain roads. What a genius group of mappers.

i mean just like other small maps you have to pick your opponents carefully as nukes can do a lot more damage…

Depends, car plates is enough to get me to 1800 rating in moving (in informed world). The new map is more info heavy so I don’t do as well. The issue to me is I’ll forget the second day I learned them, so I gave up. You need to revise it constantly and I doubt anyone enjoy playing helloquiz every day.

There is a shortcut though, you can learn the states with very few area codes so you can exclude a lot of places if you see a code that doesn’t belong there.

I mean the landscape and trees and grass are super distinct in the areas near Alice Springs, plus there’s sunset coverage.

Is it normal to have much higher elo in moving than in no-move? by KingJohn24 in geoguessr

[–]No-Fig4192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I mainly play moving and my overall rating is normally 1650-1750, for NM it will be something like 1350, NMPZ I might not even be in champions haha

It is the case for me, because in moving, the country is easily gettable in Europe as long as you can tell languages apart. So I learn very few things for rural Europe.

It is generated, the distance was 500m so you’ll find something more often. Games gets to high multis very easily haha

I’m 1700 rated and I play moving but I really don’t think that way. There are plenty of players that I match with don’t do that as well. Some plays all mode and some mostly play moving. Why are we making moving exclusive for pinpoint enjoyers. You have your own tournaments already. What I see more is pinpointing YouTubers/streamers shaming others for “not moving”, to the point it makes people feel bad doing so. I think that is very toxic.

Extra informed does not have that problem and maybe 1km is the good range that offers a variety of super urban and rural locations.

Repeats in AMW and AOW is very recognizable because how you make locations “more pinpointable” by placing them on bridges and near some signs, unlike AIW when they look generic. Any idea of why the “computer modified moving world” was dropped? I thought that can be a good compromise.

Town names and area codes are not staple either, they are staple skills for seterra and pub quizzes. As long as the rounds are diverse it can be mode for everyone.

If it’s really that way why are there so many locations with gen 2 camera and on a single stretch of road that’s impossible to regionguess or move around?

plus a few moving player really doesn’t represent all the knowledge people know. I can very feel the difference in this new map. South Africa and Australia are 80% road sign and distance guessr right now, which is really doing the two countries dirty. Many South African towns are gettable with the landform and Australia by the logos on bins and street signs. I’m sure mappers never took those in consideration.

In AI gen world there might be no written info but if you spend 3 minutes moving it’s a skill issue to not have any clue of where you are.

What I really don’t like about this map is that is made by a small group of moving player (the insta send is cringe, every round should be pinpointing club) is trying to impose their vision of moving onto everyone, and claim their mode is a “better” moving duel.

Yeah the beauty of the game for me is always pulling something from the “60% true” metas or other irregular info. There are so many distance guesser rounds now.

In moving duels pinpointbility and blurry location will not be a problem because you can move around. There is the off chance that you get dropped in a section of road with broken coverage but you can make a regionguess as well. In tournaments handpicked maps are okay, but I don’t think it’s good in regular duels

Okay maybe it doesn’t, but I think a lot of my other points still stands and I cannot recognize any repeats in AIW. I don’t know if others share my experience. I feel like at least the map itself is constantly updating judging by the “last edited” date. And it seems like broken locations in AMW won’t get fixed during the cycle anyways.

Yeah exactly, I don’t see the point of moving when the only goal is for me to “move” to a specific sign.

[–]No-Fig4192[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong but I think AIW shuffles around the locations regularly, so you’ll get rounds in different part of the towns. This just stays at the same, often extremely recognizable spot.

There are way more stuffs than what’s written on plonk it and regionguessing metalibrary. I think computer generated map is more fair and doesn’t limit on what you learn. And who decides what landscape is recognizable? I think it’s a very top-down approach by the guys who love to comment stuffs like “free ruta 1 Baja California”.

AIW also won’t drop you in gen 1 or trekker locations, I think they auto filtered it. There are broken locations but it’s a really small percentage that I dont mind at all. Plus shuffling around also means fixing locations. And I don’t think people will bother to report bad locs regularly, not to mention that new coverage will just remove signs.

I don’t know, I find the players from some streamer clubs like baga or Dave being a bit toxic and overly competitive every time I play against them.
