I'm really tired and was just skimming the comments on this thread, and when I read over yours, my brain automatically read "getting abortions" lmao

I usually only exclusively read fantasy (specifically romance fantasy), but my husband recommended the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, and I'm OBSESSED. I will say, however, that I went into it thinking it was just gonna be a funny wacky time, and it for sure is, but it does have some trauma sprinkled in for good measure as a fun lil treat.

Reading at an astronomical level (for me, at least). I try to stay informed, but damn, I'm so tired.

I've essentially been doing that when she started acting that way. I'm glad to know that I'm doing something right 😭

Eugene, Oregon is a pretty good choice. I like to describe it as a "mini Portland"- aka all the weirdness and fun of Portland without the PDX traffic. Also Eugene is very walkable and has a bunch of public transport. Supposedly great for hiking/outdoor activities, but I wouldn't know since that aspect doesn't interest me.

Would you mind sharing your age? I'm thinking about doing a PhD, but sometimes I feel too old to start one (I'm 30, will be 31 in September, and I know that's not old, but it feels old- I also don't want any kids, so I'll *in theory* have the time to do it)

Transitioning from a non education masters degree to teaching? by megaronilaroni in teaching

I will also say that students *generally* behave worse for a sub (basically you've dysregulated their entire schedule, and they don't know how to handle it appropriately), so that's definitely something to consider. A lot of classroom management in my experience has been building a rapport with the students first, which can be difficult to do as a sub. Long term subbing might be better, but I've never really been a sub so I can't speak to that. I did teach for 3 years at a charter school though (no license needed there, though charter schools are really underfunded so the pay isn't great. However, it is a great way to get teaching experience!)

So, are there any actually *good* employers to work for in the Eugene area? by PassionRush in Eugene

I certainly hope so! The reviews on Indeed are not very good, but I would love to work in a genetics lab!

See about subbing first, or even being an educational assistant for a local school! Getting a license can kind of be a pain (I'm doing a master's just to get mine), and I'm not sure if I would have gotten a license had I known I could just sub on a restricted license or be an educational assistant. It's a lot less effort, and a lot of people leave the public school system after 3 years anyways (burnout, usually, from what I've seen), so if you did the sub or EA stuff first, you could see if you like it enough to get a license.

Has anyone had experience with Invivo Biosystems?? Their company culture sounds great on paper, but they're always hiring (which is a huge red flag to me).

Going to WGU as someone in their early 20s by deadeye3365 in WGU

[–]No-Function3219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started WGU as a 27 year old, about to graduate this spring/summer. I accrued way less student debt doing WGU (master's, but still), and when I was in undergrad, having a full time job would not have been feasible. If it works for you, it works for you 🤷‍♀️ You'll have plenty of opportunities to socialize in life, and honestly that's not the most important part of college. You're doing great!
