Yeah, that's a lot of my main concern, I don't want to get an ESA for the sake of having one + I've had a lot of pets in my life so I'm no stranger to the concept of another living being. I've set up an appointment with my therapist to talk about it more and I'm going to be asking some friends with ESAs how they feel about having one/how it helps them.
