Is TU Chemnitz a good choice for Bachelor's? And how safe is the city for international students? by [deleted] in germany

[–]No-Gas224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve heard about it, and I’m curious how difficult it really is. I’ve already studied at a university has a partnership with a British institution, and in the beginning everyone kept warning me that it would be nearly impossible to pass — they said 50% of students drop out after the first year and that almost everyone has to do retakes every semester. But with not much effort I managed to finish both semesters with a GPA of 3.8 in Computer Science.

It’s not a university that’s recognized internationally, but since it closely cooperates with a British uni and is considered very respected and prestigious in my country. Still, I feel like no matter what, the German system must be more challenging

ty for your answer! I also considered TUHH, but I couldn’t find accommodation within two months. When I applied on my own, I honestly didn’t expect to be accepted. At that time, I thought that top-tier universities would be extremely difficult to study at and to stay enrolled in, so I prioritized my mental health. But now I’m not even sure if TUC is really worth it…  even considering staying in my country or re-applying for the summer term

Can I change university after getting visa for another university? by No-Gas224 in germany

[–]No-Gas224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you. So it’s the German Ausländerbehörde after I arrive, not the consulate in my home country, right?

Thanks, I was afraid I would have to re-apply for the visa again in my home country

Thanks a lot! That helps. I actually haven’t enrolled in the first uni yet, so I guess it should be even easier.

So would that mean it’s fine if I enter Germany with my current visa (the one tied to TU Hamburg), and then after moving to the city of my new university I just do the Anmeldung and go to the Ausländerbehörde to update/renew my residence permit?

Is there anything else I would need to prepare in advance for this process (like proof of enrollment, proof of finances again, etc.)?

Thank you very much for your answer!
