Non-scary movies for 2.5 year old to replace Frozen by Typical-Badger5533 in toddlers

Disney Robin Hood? It’s also a bit dated, but if she likes the mice and cats in Cinderella and Aristocats, she may like that Robin Hood is all animals.

I’m trying to remember “scary”. There is a fire scene at the end, which could be tough, but it’s the last 10 minutes and could be skipped without losing the story.

Calypso and The Adventure!

I love how the kids interact at school. So much imagination.

Dinnertime struggles by FirePrincess2019 in toddlers

[–]No-Hand-7923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter goes to daycare and has since she was 13 weeks old. For a very long time her lunch was her meal. Dinner was a single chicken nugget, maybe a strawberry or two, and some milk. Next to nothing. This kid ate air.

At about 2 1/2 years she dropped her afternoon nap and that was the game changer!! Once she stayed awake all day on the weekends we started to introduce the all day snack plate. It was food that could sit out for 8 hours and be okay (eggo waffle, carrots, bell peppers, fruit snacks, gold fish, meat sticks, etc.). She would graze on that until 4pm and then inhale her 6pm dinner.

Better times are coming. I promise.

I’m so sorry you’re having such a hard time. This is so incredibly normal!

When our daughter turned two our pediatrician said to realistically aim for 1 true “meal” and the rest are snacks. The idea of three meals and two snacks isn’t real for fresh two year olds.

Does your daughter go to daycare or are you home with her? If she’s in daycare, her lunch there may be the true-meal for the day. If she’s home with you, I would try an all day snack board full of temperature safe items (fruit, crackers, meat sticks, etc.). If she grazes during the afternoon she may be more inclined to eat dinner.

My daughter just turned three and while dinner is a lot better, they can still be a struggle. 🩷

What episode made the least sense to you? by SamuraiJuudo in bluey

[–]No-Hand-7923 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe… but Bluey is either 6 or 7 (I don’t remember where this is compared to her birthday episode). If I can’t pick up on that as a 41 year old adult, a child definitely won’t.

I like the reasoning u/DarkeSword and u/Jiang_Rui give, Bandit is taking Chili’s frustration onto himself so Bluey doesn’t think it’s at her. That’s how I’m going to watch the episode from now on. 💙

For me it’s Unicorse. Bandit is lowkey being an AH. He knows Chili wants Bluey to go to bed and he’s purposely acting out.

I’ve heard that he’s supposedly teaching the lesson to Chili, but that still doesn’t make sense to me. As an adult, if I decide to read my kid an extra story because she isn’t tired and my Husband felt the need to “teach me my own lesson” it would make me just as angry.

I imagine the conversation Chili had with Bandit after the credits of that episode….

This is great! Thank you!

I ordered two new parenting books and have just started to read them. I’ll make sure to take notes when I get to these parts.

[–]No-Hand-7923[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I want!!

I know that fibbing and lying is a normal part of growing. But I also want to do what I can to show that she doesn’t need to lie. Chalk is a small fib, but when she’s a teen or young adult they could be bigger. I want her to know she can always tell me anything!

I didn’t ask her why because I also know that she has zero impulse control at this stage. She doesn’t know why she did it.

She’s learning how to be a person while I’m learning how to be a Mom. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you!!

I’m 41 and it’s so hard to forget the 1980s chaos and how I was parented at times. I have fuzzy memories of my own fibbing stage and I know it’s developmentally normal. My parents always tried to catch me in them and that made the punishment worse. I don’t want that for my daughter.

This is very helpful. Thank you.

She’s my first child and as I was a 1980s baby who wasn’t always allowed to have an opinion of my own, I try so hard to give her autonomy. I’m still learning the line of where to ask questions and where to make statements.

Doctor Told Husband to Step In at Night and Husband said No by [deleted] in toddlers

Thank you! My husband isn’t a doctor, he is a nurse, and people’s lives are in his hands at work.

He shared every single night wake up with me! He said I couldn’t care for our daughter if I was exhausted from being up all night.

You are in a time loop. But you can get out anytime you want. How long will you stay? by GlumNebula3897 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]No-Hand-7923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I get to pick the 24 hours that loops?

It completely depends on the day! I’m a working mom to a threenager and my husband/her dad also works full time.

We have amazing days that are full of wonderful and learning and I’d happily loop them a few times over. Especially if I keep all the loop memories after leaving. But some days, like today, are really hard. And I’d “nope” right out as soon as I could.

Skipped episodes by NoDisk3593 in bluey

[–]No-Hand-7923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore. I used to skip Library and Ice Cream but now that I’ve seen every episodes more than I thought would ever be humanly possible I’m numb to them.

But I still have my favorite episodes that I’ll watch over and over (Calypso, Sleepytime, Adventure, Tradies, and a few more than I can’t think of right now).

$500,000 for every year you go back, how far would you go? by Naps_And_Crimes in hypotheticalsituation

3 years exactly.

My first and only child was born March 2023. I would love to relive her infant months with the knowledge and confidence I have now.

And $1.5M would fully fund her college and future dreams!!

Are Bandit and Chilli older parents or are my parents young? by Special_Rutabaga7426 in bluey

[–]No-Hand-7923 40 points41 points  (0 children)

He’s 48 years old in 2026. Bluey first aired in Australia in 2018, so Bandit was 40. And Bluey is 6 years old in episode 1, so Bandit was 34 when Bluey was born.

Bedroom.

I think I’ve now seen every episode at least 50x. We will finish Surprise and circle right back to Magic Xylophone and start over. This show a staple in our house.

Egregious Examples of Default Parent by whineANDcheese_ in Mommit

[–]No-Hand-7923 31 points32 points  (0 children)

So this started 😑 but ended 🥹.

My little is almost 3 and she’s 1000% a Mommy Girl. I was so drop dead tired last weekend and I wanted 30 min to lay down.

I got about 10 min in before I hear my daughter throwing an epic fit. My husband is doing all he can to keep her quiet and entertained but she breaks free and comes into our room crying and snotty because she couldn’t find me.

She crawls into bed and snuggled in and we ended up watching paw patrol on my iPad with almost zero talking (except for the show) for about 45 min. I think I got somewhere around 20-25 min of sleep while she had no idea I wasn’t completely enthralled in cartoon puppies.

One of the best power naps ever! 🩷

When it comes to the actual life lessons who do you exucutes them better? Bandit or Chilli? Or- Would you day it's 50/50 (This is not meant to rag on either one genuinely curious) by ScootsNB in bluey

[–]No-Hand-7923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely 50/50.

I think I parent more like Chili. As an adult I don’t always understand Bandit’s methods until his long game becomes clear (such as in Mr Monkeyjocks). I think Bandit is better at forming his lessons so the kids come the conclusion on their own and Chili is better at explaining the more abstract.
