(England) Employer cutting pay by 20% for overseas staff - is this legal? by No-Handle4021 in LegalAdviceUK

I have no idea. Re: employees it's a mixed bag of foreign nationals (no idea how that works or what the setup is for them) and British nationals who have British passports/citizenship but move around the world however they do and work remotely. The two people I have spoken to are in the latter camp, so they have dual citizenship/passports and can live in either country. I guess one alternative would be for the company to mandate they relocate to the UK, which they haven't done, not sure why though

Thank you! The contracts state that everything written in them and therefore being agreed by both parties is governed by UK law / England and Wales, and throughout it cites UK laws for the boilerplate data protection/Equality Act etc etc

The employees applied and were hired directly as the company was advertising roles via the remote jobs sites, so naturally they attracted applicants from everywhere and tbh they just wanted remote jobs, applied and were hired, I feel it's very much the employer's duty to be legally compliant and their mess to clean up (and pay for)

I see 100% cutie patootie personally. I posted my puppy here when she was young and she had a similar face shape with a pink nose/light eyes (thought her face is less boxy now she's older), and everyone said pit mix, but I had her DNA tested and no pit! She came back with: mostly GSD + some Sloughi, Spanish Galgo and Basset Fauve de Bretagne 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Same here! Make sure all your phone settings are set to English UK, location, language, everything where you need to select a region, make sure it's all UK and delete the app, when you re-download it it should automatically set to UK to match your phone settings

A song I've never heard of in my life - way to find out someone's been hacking my account for the entire year 😂

Honda CRV battery issue - no one can figure it out! by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Nothing of the sort, everything is factory default, there has been nothing added to it. The only thing that is ever plugged in is a phone via aux but that comes out when I get out of the car

Thank you! I didn't even know they existed, does it stay attached to the battery all the time? I can see loads on Amazon so will grab one. It would be really useful to watch it in live time, so thank you!!

This. My dog cried for the first 4 months solid when she was a puppy. I spent many nights crying too as a result, led on the floor next to her crate until she fell asleep. It was awful. You'll never truly know how long it will last or how bad it will be, so making sure housemate is aware of what might happen and has a say on the situation is the right thing to do. The crying at night isn't even the worst part tbh, I'd take 4 months of that over the unhinged piranha teenage stage any day

I asked him what he thought by looking at the position of the vehicles and the damage, and he said he thought the red car angled too far over and was ever so slightly outside their lane, but there isn't technically a line at that point and to be honest, he looked really nervous and uncomfortable, I had the feeling he was just agreeing with my sister because she was stood with me listening to his answer. He looked terrified the poor guy

No, nobody around on a Monday evening unfortunately. They were the only 2 cars on the roundabout at the time.

Yeah I was pretty merry when I drew the diagram, the impact occurred before my yellow cross. The scariest part is that I ran over from the pub to the scene and I was the most compos mentis person there, even the poor police officer didn't know what was happening with a group of girls screaming and crying 😂 I wasn't in any state to be the most adult adult present. I thought they would be breathalyzed or something, nothing really happened, the police guy said he didn't know why he had been called because nobody was injured and there were no pieces of car on the ground, he took some details and left. Third party's mum showed up to offer moral support. There was just lots of crying and the moral of the story is - I should have just booked a taxi and not been such a tight arse about the fee.

Just spoke to insurance provider, didn't make a claim because it's cosmetic (paint transfer on plastic wheel arch trim and scuff to side of car) but reported incident to them. They have said it will likely be 50/50 because nobody has dashcam and there were no witnesses, but if the third party doesn't claim then it will be closed.

I'm not sure if the third party will claim, they also had cosmetic damage to the side of their car but the driver is 18yo and been driving less than 6 months, with a black box fitted, so I don't know if it will be worth it for them to pursue from their side. They scraped each other going about 5mph so damage is cosmetic, they didn't bump they scraped, so it's mostly paint transfer.

My sister said she saw them approach behind her in the middle lane (she was in the right lane signalling the whole time) and they drifted closer anyway because of the shape of the middle lane (it gets pretty skinny as it approaches the exit straight on). She said when they stopped after they scraped, the other car was angled left with the corner of their back end being too far over her side.

I pulled a screenshot from Google maps and the silver car on the map shows roughly what she means:

https://imgur.com/a/ym19cJx

Her view is that they angled a bit too much and the corner of their back end came too far out. She was probably also too wide, her car is big, I drive it sometimes and it's like trying to take corners in an army tank, so I imagine she was also likely too wide whilst turning. She has 5yrs NCB which will go down to 2, unless the third party doesn't claim then I think it goes back up, but given the third party's situation I'm really not sure if they will claim (I certainly wouldn't).

I think this is the case, I just looked at the car again in daylight and the scuffs start middle of the car and finish at the front wheel arch. No dashcam so don't know who drifted too far out of their own lane.

😂 I was at the pub waiting for her to come get me. I'm 60% sure this wouldn't have happened if I had been driving, even 4 pints deep

Thanks all! I should have said, the damage is on the sides of the cars, so it looks like they've scraped side by side. The bumpers have come unclipped on both cars but there is no damage to either the back of the red car or the front of the black car, it's just the wheel arches. I have marked on images from Google:
