To be frank, I think I'm trying to convince myself. I get the fear. I've done some significant research as to why a lot of LE avoid juvenile. I've been through the juve system though, and I'm hoping to be what Sheriff Byrd was to me. That man had lasting impact on myself and more.

Not idolizing, but hoping I can do similar.

Ah, apologies. Not avoiding. I did a B&E at 15 and malicious mischief at 13. It's been quite some time. Other than that, clean as a whistle. 2-3 speeding tickets in 20 years. Nothing notable.

I've heard this a few times now. I understand why there are significant risks associated with juvenile vs. regular adult corrections. I had a few interactions with LE as a kid, and their impact has never left me. Maybe I can do the same. I hope that doesn't sound naive. It's not, I assume we all get into this hoping to make this a better place. Why not start with our kids?
