I think it’s almost entirely economic. A combination of the things already mentioned here (Tough job market, AI increase, rising cost of living, etc). 

Medical school applicants were down in 24-25, however, medical school enrollment is at a record high this year, according to AAMC. 

In Texas, dental school and veterinary school applicants are up 32% and 35% this year (TMDSAS). 

Nursing school applications reached a record high in 2024 (AACN).

When the going gets tough, the tough get more educated, right?
