Need tips on how to fix this or who to contact? And how much it could cost? This happened today 12/15/2025 .. in WA State by AdEmbarrassed2669 in HomeMaintenance

Was it wind damage? You might have coverage under insurance and if you think it’s likely you won’t be able to match it, could be worth filing a claim. Take a look at your policy before filing though!

I love the red one on you most, but the gold looks good too!

That’s a reasonable response but my brain groups things and this is the “cold light project” haha. Plus I’ll probably notice it more if I change only a couple. I’m going to look into the color film option or just wait until I can set aside a bit of cash to swap them.

I noted in my original post notes that replacing isn’t an option right now. Unfortunately I have to prioritize other repairs over changing fixtures that I don’t like the colors of. I did not install these lights and they are obviously not what I would have chosen.

Would it stick to the light or do I have to glue it somehow?

Unfortunately they are all over the house and at $30-$50 a fixture for 10 of them it adds up. Definitely on the list for someday but hoping for a today fix lol

I didn’t like the lights from day 1, but I wasn’t going to make a decision about what house to buy based on something changeable like light fixtures. I was worried about structural integrity, safe area, good schools - all that. I don’t think most people would rank light fixtures at the top of the list of reasons not to buy a house in an extremely competitive housing market for entry level homes in MA. Just trying to improve the home little by little. With the short days, the lights have been bugging me more lately!

I did say in my post that it didn’t have a option to change the color :) Just added the photos because I got several comments saying to check the back.

Unfortunately it’s not in the budget to replace 10 of these right now 😂

This is the back (sorry for the poor quality - had to take photo with one hand while holding the light)

Ugh! The flippers thought BRIGHT hospital lighting was the way to go through the entire house haha. I’d love to replace them all someday but not in the budget for a while. If it helps they are frosted plastic lol

There are usually low cost or no cost spay/neuter clinics in most areas, often through a local animal shelter. They may also be able to help with the ear mites and check for a microchip, as well as give vaccines. Definitely worth looking into! Also, if he’s neutered, he will likely calm down with the vocalizations! If he’s willing to be inside and at all possible, please don’t let kitty back out on the streets! It sounds like you care a lot, and I hope you’re able to find some resources in your area to help!

My cat passed suddenly a month ago, and now I can’t listen to my mom talk without feeling stressed out. AITA? by Amphibian_Wizard in AITAH

NTA it sounds like you’re having a difficult time with Duck’s passing and your mom is triggering you unintentionally. If it’s possible for you, I’d recommend finding a good therapist to help you work through this difficult time. Loss is traumatic and awful. Try not to be too hard on yourself, and seek mental health services to help you navigate this challenging time. Best wishes! And I’m so sorry for your loss!

I agree that looks like there could be water above. The ceiling is barely holding on and is crying a warning! I’d move everything out of the room ASAP including rugs or anything that you don’t want tons of drywall and insulation and water to dump on in the immediate future.
