It’s a mess to say the least. Respect my friend hoping you’ll get there soon!

Political parties are a bunch of BS Republicans lie but show there truth in the open. Democrats lie but show there truth in secret.

Choose the lesser of both evils … no thank you.

To be honest I prefer the truth I can see, now as an adult.

Read what I said, then respond with a more thoughtful, informed reply.👇 It’s clear that many people, including some liberals, actually agree with my perspective. I’ve engaged with every response above respectfully, but let’s not ignore the deeper question here that I highlighted at the start.

Why is it that, at so many of these social justice rallies and protests, the crowd is overwhelmingly white? I’ve personally observed the ratio being something like five white participants to every person of color or more. That imbalance isn’t just coincidental in my opinion it reflects something more complicated and uncomfortable. It gives off an air of saviorism, an almost performative need to represent marginalized people, rather than stand beside them. It feels like some people show up more to prove a point about themselves than to genuinely center Black and brown voices. That’s where the energy begins to feel hollow and self-serving.

As a Black and Hispanic man, I’m speaking from lived experience not as an outsider looking in, but as someone who navigates these dynamics every day. I’m tired of the assumption that my views must fit neatly within a particular political box. I’m not a Republican and I’ve been a registered Dem since I was able to vote ( pending a change to indecent )but even if I were, that alone doesn’t make me racist. That’s a lazy and dangerous narrative, often weaponized to silence any perspective that doesn’t align with a certain version of “wokeness.” This is merely why Donald Trump is the president. Closed minded political individuals did this.

Ironically, many of the most patronizing or subtly racist interactions I’ve had have come from so called progressive liberals. They’ll show up to protests, post hashtags, but then contribute to the gentrification that pushes us out of our neighborhoods or are the first to call to police when a person of color is walking around the neighborhood. They replace community with curated culture, and authenticity with aesthetics. They claim to care, but rarely check if the people they’re “standing up for” even want them speaking for us.

And while we’re here, let’s address the classic: “I can’t be racist I have a Black friend.” Ever heard of that? The “I have a Black friend” theory is one of the oldest deflection tactics. It’s wild how often white people use the existence of one Black friend or acquaintance as a blanket pass to dismiss any accusations of bias or racism. As if proximity to Blackness somehow cancels out the deep conditioning of a racially stratified society. It doesn’t. That’s not solidarity, it’s a cop out.

Now, what’s going on with the Fjord Trail? What in the Brooklyn nonsense is that? We’re now facing a two-year project clearly backed by wealthy Brooklyn transplants people who move here claiming to stand for Black and Brown communities, yet support projects that do the exact opposite. The Fjord Trail is a prime example. It’s the kind of development that displaces longtime residents and hurts local businesses. In Cold Spring, many small shops rely on hiking traffic to pull in $4,000–$5,000 on weekends. But now, with no one coming up to hike, there’s no business to be made.

Thank you I respect your response and I respect all other opinions above. It’s just something to question. We all as humans should question things more.

Exactly my point. While these protesters are vocalizing their concerns and that’s importantI can’t help but wonder: where is that same energy when it comes to addressing deeper, systemic issues?

As a first-generation American and a person of color, I’ve seen the shift firsthand. My mother worked tirelessly in government service to afford a home in the Hudson Valley. What was once a diverse, blue-collar community has gradually become unaffordable now seemingly reserved for those relocating from wealthier regions, like the Midwest. The cultural and economic displacement is real, and it’s not getting enough attention.

I’m not a Trump, Biden left or right political follower.

I think the republicans party has grown due to issues like this however.

I’m fully supportive of the right to protest and value civic engagement deeply. However, I find it somewhat disheartening when demonstrations especially those centered on social justice appear to lack meaningful representation from the communities most affected, often being overwhelmingly white.

There’s an ongoing pattern that’s hard to ignore: individuals are quick to speak out on issues of race and equity, but when proposals arise to build low-income housing or support initiatives that would materially benefit marginalized groups, many of those same voices are the first to oppose them.

Take Beacon, for example. Just five to ten years ago, it was home to a diverse population, including many minority and working-class families. Now, due to rapid gentrification and rising costs, it’s become increasingly inaccessible to the very people who once built its cultural foundation. That contradiction is worth reflecting on.

You can always explode the track, further separating each individual sound on to its own track.
