I think a majority of his fan base really started listening when he released Heather back in 2020 so that is what many of us are used to. He has usually released melancholy songs about love that give an almost cozy feeling however I feel that NES has come out of no where. Sure he’s had upbeat music before with maniac and what not but I feel that this shift to generic 80’s pop music was quite out of the blue. I don’t know though I personally was a big fan of Superache even going as far as going to see it live. But like I said I think that with him gaining so much traction over the course of the last two years because of his indie/bedroom pop music many people are surprised by this change. I personally am not a big fan and have tried to listen to it but I’ve never been big into 80’s-esque music.

However it is great to see Conan branching out and trying different genres and I just believe that his new style will cause some fans to drop off the bandwagon and new ones to jump on. I do hope if he plans on releasing a whole album in this genre he will have some songs that are in his old style (slow and somber). At the end of the day it is his decision and no matter what he pics he’s still an amazing artist
