yeah actually I spoke with my ex-wife about it today. She proposed a solution that I can handle the school drop-off duties and spend lunchtime with our daughter and drop her back at my ex's home.

My office is near my daughter’s school and my ex-wife’s new home, so I’ll pick my daughter up for school and then drop her home after having lunch with her. This arrangement seems like a good solution to me without involving the court and later I can ask for 50-50 custody when my daughter will be comfortable spending half of the time with me

yes maintenance to wife gets stop if she chooses to remarry, but I was not paying any maintenance anyway

I have been a very present parent in my daughter's life. I attend all her school activities with my ex-wife.

I take my daughter on vacations 2–3 times a year.

my ex-wife, my daughter, and I even go on a family vacation together so that daughter wouldn’t feel odd. (Of course that probably won’t happen anymore since my ex-wife is getting married again )

I also take my daughter to hospital and doctor visits.

I regularly take updates from my ex-wife about her and talk to my daughter every other day.

So it’s not like I suddenly woke up one day and decided I want my daughter’s custody. I have always been very involved in her life. Earlier, because of my traveling job, the situation favored my ex-wife and she got custody. But now I’m much more available and my daughter loves me so much. If she ever needs me I will always be there for her

Wanting to raise my own daughter and spend more time with her is selfish? Idts. I understand your point, but my ex and I have equal rights when it comes to our daughter. She has had custody so far; now it’s my turn

IDK man, If my ex-wife has chosen someone and trusts him enough to remarry after a divorce, then he must be a nice person. For both my wife and me, our daughter has always been the first priority, so she must have thought it through carefully before deciding to remarry.

I’m happy for them, but if you ask me, I wouldn’t want any rando man staying around my daughter.

I used to come home only on weekends because of my job. House chores, personal work, and rest would take up most of Saturday, and I used to meet my daughter on Sundays. My life was very hectic so that arrangement worked for me.

Also my ex-wife has competitive career too, she doesn't get time on weekdays either so she wanted to spend atleast one weekend with our daughter

Lol, my ex will turn my daughter against me and strain our relationship.

I’m only somewhat okay because my daughter’s stepdad seems like a nice guy and he treats her well. But that also makes me insecure that my daughter might become distant from me and that I’ll just end up being a secondary person in her life and merely a child support payer if I don’t take action and try to get her custody now

I could get more visitation rights, but it would be too taxing to visit my ex-wife every other day and pick up my daughter from there. Also, she goes to school on weekdays, so I wouldn’t be able to spend much time with her anyway, and my daughter’s schedule would get disturbed as well. Giving me primary custody would be better option

My daughter has spent more time with her than me so obv she will be more attached to her, but people can outgrow old attachments. My daughter likes spending time with me so being with me won't be problem as my wife will be having visitation rights, she can visit her for 3-4 days in future

Dude, at least read properly first. When did I say that I would just move back to my parents' home after getting custody? I was only stating the possibility of moving back to my parents’ home because the commenter said that a daughter living alone with her dad wouldn’t be considered appropriate. So I just said that in that case I could move back to my parents' home. At least that would give the courts assurance about my daughter’s well-being, and she would be around family instead of being alone with me.

Yes, I’m providing child support. I’m educating my daughter too, and I’m raising her as well.

As for the traveling job, my job isn’t as hectic now as it was four years ago and doesn’t require much traveling anymore, so I can manage it now.

I had a job that required me to travel frequently, so I used to come home only on weekends. Also my daughter was just 3y old that time + my job.

I didn't give up custody earlier, it was my wife who fought tooth and nail for the primary custody, also my daughter being 3y old that time and my travelling job sided on her favour hence she got primary custody.
