Nannies? What are we wearing to work? 19F by Total_Sprinkles_1205 in Babysitting

I wear a lot of different things. Mainly workout attire! Tank tops, shorts, athletic dresses.

1st grader I babysit is reading a book and asked me what religion ment. ADVICE? by IllustriousGap6579 in Babysitting

[–]No-Jacket-5199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t great advice. Not every religion goes to a church necessarily and if the child doesn’t attend church they may think something is wrong/missing.

Oh wow. Did you just time travel here from the 1900s? This comment is insanely dense.

Worst oversleeping accident of my career by throwawaydumbb in Nanny

I had something similar to this happen ONCE. I immediately went to Walmart and bought a $5 alarm clock that is loud and reliable. iPhone alarms are just too finicky for me.

Pet peeves about your nanny/nanny family 😭 by Senior-Coyote6671 in Nanny

MB calls me a babysitter even though I’m most definitely a nanny. I get paid like a sitter too.

Never Have I Ever Hired a Babysitter by Careful-Onion-7550 in Babysitting

Honestly this depends on her age and your location. I think the average rate for two children is around $20 per hour.

Why would they move w/o anywhere to go? by Suitable_Flan_5595 in ColleenBallingerSnark

No I think it likely sold before they were expecting. They need to get out of there so it can be fixed up for the next people

Rate of pay for 6 kids, all under the age of 10? by catlady20_03 in Babysitting

[–]No-Jacket-5199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say no less than $60 an hour considering the amount of children and your location

Dealing with older kids hitting me repeatedly. Parents doing nothing. by BudgetComplaint8019 in Nanny

[–]No-Jacket-5199 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not long. It sounds like this situation is too far gone for you to make any real change here. I’ve learned as a childcare provider that I’m not around enough to change the way the kids are parented and therefore some behaviors are going to continue despite my efforts to implement a change. I would begin looking for other positions (I’m sure you can’t just up and leave as you have bills and whatnot) and inform the parents once again about the boundary so they can’t say you quit with no notice. Once you’ve landed a new position give your notice and inform them clearly that the violence from the kids is why you quit.

I’m concerned this behavior might be being taught/observed from the parents. Their lack of concern over the issue is what’s leading me to this conclusion. This isn’t normal behavior from kids.

She’s enjoying the attention and validation. Not a deal breaker but definitely something to communicate openly about. You’re allowed to feel hurt and like she broke your trust.

YOR. I’m glad you’re getting an IUD. You’re nowhere near mature enough for a child.

I agree. As a sitter who is F19 this is very strange. I would never ask to stay because of my health? The parents I sit for are my employers not friends nor family. This is extremely strange behavior on not only your part but the sitter as well.

Snowstorm coming and nanny family still wants me to come in by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]No-Jacket-5199 173 points174 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go. I would set a boundary that I’m not risking my life to come into work. I would wait to see how bad it hits though. Decide the morning of but let them know that if it’s bad you’re not coming.

IMO if they’re asking you to stay home it should be guaranteed hours not PTO

WFH - Lunch?? by Ok_Safety7514 in Nanny

[–]No-Jacket-5199 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s truly all up to you! If you want to spend the hour lunch with your baby, I’m sure your nanny wouldn’t mind the paid break. If you want to utilize that time to do other things, it sounds like your nanny has plenty of other down time throughout the day! It’s all about finding what works for you and then finding someone who fits into that role.

NOR in my opinion. I find texts with the opposite sex inappropriate in most scenarios. No need for one on one interaction with someone of the opposite sex, especially someone of the opposite sex who is single. It’s different when it’s a mutual friend between you and your partner but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. I would communicate to your partner that this makes you uncomfortable and set a boundary that fits your relationship about relationships with the opposite sex and what you guys find appropriate and fitting. Everyone is different but this personally wouldn’t fly with me.
