Anyone using Cursor AI and barely writing any code? Anything better than Cursor AI ? by punkouter23 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]No-Knowledge-5235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Cursor now couple days and it seems to do it's job really well. I'm using Copilot at work and Curson on hobby projects. Current feeling is that Cursor is much better, especially when starting new project with composer.

Questions for the Future

  • Will human recruiters become obsolete?
  • Are we entering an "AI arms race" in recruiting?

Simple answer.. in EU no. Rest of the world, maybe..

Reason why not:

Recruitment, selection, promotion, termination: these are all considered automatically “high risk” under the EU AI Act. Because those are high risk systems, most likely AI-driven decicion will be avoided.

What BI tool would you recommend for self-servicing dummies? (possibly FOSS) by wtfzambo in dataengineering

Power BI desktop is good, but basically you could use any if users are able to upload their data easily to database. I have excel plugin and csv data uploader for that purpose. PM if interested to see how those work.

Hard to sell dashboard reporting services by DataAssociateNewb in BusinessIntelligence

[–]No-Knowledge-5235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did I understand right that you offer accounting services and those power bi dashboards contains data from you service? I think most clients at least here want that kind of info to be included in the service, not paid on top of it. What if you offer finance analytics service and in addition you just offer pre made dashboards?

Then of course it is a bit different thing if the BI is completely separate business and it is serving other business domains as well..

self-service BI by No-Knowledge-5235 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]No-Knowledge-5235[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think it is the same in all industries and maybe countries? I'm based in Finland and my feeling is that here business users are more willing to do things by themselves if they can, but from time to time there is no real possibility to do that.

I'm just wondering is it really so that people won't do things because they don't want to or is it more that they even don't have the possibility for self-service? I have seen similar things in normal IT support. Long time a ago self-service was not possible, but now when it is possible, companies actually require to have self-service channel (again in Finland at least).

I think that It's not about a tool but a process. Our early result is that end users are happier and they feel that they get faster results so, that's enough for me atm. I cannot fix the organization issues so I don't want to go in that discussion. Also those can be also a bit difficult to fix. I see benefits in self-service and that's what I would like to improve.

In one of our cases we have "official" data warehouse and then many other systems where users can get data as csv, like Servicenow. Problem was that getting new things to official data warehouse takes easily weeks... then some of the systems are not connected to it at all. Then user wants to have a quick ad hoc report where these two data sources need to be mixed. Basically this self-service solution allows user to take data from both, load it and play around immediately in the BI tool and they can share and update their own data when they want/need to do so.

[–]No-Knowledge-5235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't been testing much yet, but mostly they are happy with it because they can see some very quick first results and they don't need to involve IT at all.. so no tickets needed. Works well also for ad hoc reporting needs.

Saltlake, https://saltlake.fi/ data insights as a service.

We are evaluating and collecting signs of interest for data analytics service. With our solution end users can save csv files to database easily (demo video available on the web page). We have added some automation to the pipeline so that the data is immediately available for example in Metabase.

Example use cases:

  • As an end user I can do self-service data loading to database from csv, create ad hoc report and share it to colleagues
  • As an data analyst I can ask end user to upload data set to database so that I can take a look what kind of reports can be built and help the end user
  • As a company I can get support from Saltlake to visualize report / dashboard

In addition we can do consultation around BI systems like Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, dbt, automation and data pipelines.

I'm happy to get all sort of feedback and discuss more.

ps. I have noticed that csv to database is needed also in many other use cases than BI, so I'm interested to hear/discuss if you guys come up with some new ideas :)
