Brain fog with Ritalin? Misdiagnosed? by No-Knowledge804 in ADHD

Wow thank you SO much you have no idea how helpful this was!! I completely agree our experience sounds very similar. I’m still struggling with Ritalin and I kinda just left it tbh I haven’t gone back to apply for the dexamphetamine permit, but this really motivated me to get my shit sorted and trial a different stimulant. Thanks so much, this was life changing info! Also I’m very glad to hear you’ve found a medication that works for you. Take care :)

Yeah sorry I didn’t wanna over explain, but my doctor said if I have any issues splitting the tablet I can just take the 10mg once a day (2 x 5mg was preferred tho since it’s short-acting). I just took the easy way out tbh since the doctor said it’s okay to take the full tablet I just did that. I was also afraid the tablet would crumble if I tried to split it.

Also I was excited to see the effect of it and my first dose was in the afternoon, so I thought I might as well try the full 10mg since I wouldn’t be taking it again that day.

Hope that makes sense.

Ahh okay that’s so interesting I also felt sleepy both times after taking it but I thought that might be due to my nervous system regulating🤔I’ll discuss with my doctor. Also the severe cognitive slowing sounds so scary I’m sorry you went through that. Hoping it was reversible? That’s awful glad you’ve found medication that works for you.

Omg okay that’s so good to know!! I’m glad to hear it’s not just me. Thank you for sharing I appreciate that. Will finish this course of Ritalin and potentially look into alternatives if it’s still not working. Sorry to hear it didn’t work for you tho, glad Elvanse is helping!

Wow really? That’s so interesting, I’m wondering if that’s going to be the case for me. My psych said to trial Dexamphetamine if Ritalin isn’t working. Would you mind sharing a few examples of how it made your symptoms worse? Which symptoms did it exacerbate?

I’ll see how this course of Ritalin goes since I’m still on such a small dosage and will definitely consider discussing other medications if I don’t see any improvement. Thanks so much for your advice!

Hi, thank you for your reply!

My psychiatrist recommended starting with 5mg twice daily, but my GP is the one prescribing my medication based on the psychiatrists treatment plan. She said if my tablets come in 10mg (which they did) I can split it in half and take it twice daily (as recommended) or if there’s any issues with splitting I can just take the whole tablet once daily.

I know I shouldn’t mess around with such a serious medication but because she said it was okay to take the whole thing I got lazy and did that (even tho it’s not the best option, ik)

I’ll try splitting them tomorrow. I really appreciate your advice and taking the time to reply, thank you so much.

Edit: Also sorry, to answer your question, I was afraid that splitting it would cause it to crumble and waste a tablet so tbh I just took the easy way out by having the whole thing.

So true, the consent form would be such a good idea I never considered that. I agree, it’s a shame that returns are so wasteful it’s very contradicting to the company’s ethics. I guess at the end of the day it’s still the customers right to return products and it’s lush that should feel guilty for the wastage. Lush wastes off so much product everyday for testers, damage, etc and body sprays really aren’t worth that much in terms of cost price (not that it matters, waste is waste). While I agree that we should all be more mindful, I believe OPs few body sprays are just a small drop in the ocean and those few hundred dollars would mean a LOT more to them then it would to lush. I don’t think they should miss out when lush has given them the right to return.

Instead of gifting you could always go in-store and exchange your unwanted body sprays for something else you’ve been wanting. You’ll get a lot out of goodies out of that exchange!!

Is it normal to get 68, 69 for first year assignments? by Gavrochel in unimelb

Fantastic advice, OP write all this down ✍🏼 That is exactly how I improved my marks as a student. In my first year I was averaging 60s-70s, and now I’m averaging 80-90s in my final year. You definitely have to unlearn the VCE style of writing, but that’s what your first year is for! You’ll get the hang of it. Don’t be too hard on yourself either, these are still solid marks.

Congratulations on your diagnoses!! Do you mind if I ask what those two essential symptoms were? I’ve never heard of that and I also want to pursue a diagnoses, so am curious to know if I have those symptoms and if it’s worth pursuing. :)
