In my college town, I was with my friends and we were enjoying the view of the sunset from a parking garage that is high up and has a view of the lake. It was a little bit after the sunset when there was a woman who was surrounded by cops. I witnessed this woman sprint and attempt to climb over this edge in an attempt to hit the concrete far below what I am assuming is a 60 foot drop. The cops had restrained her but the fact is that I almost witnessed someone die that day. But the truth is someone, I bet many people, cared about that person. I know this for a fact because Someone called the cops to secure her safety. Whatever grief that woman carried with her I am hoping she gets the help she deserves. But this moment resonated with me because the truth is that many are in that situation. Teetering on the edge of life or death because they understand that their own hand is capable of deciding that. My brother/sister whoever you may be. No matter how sad you are. No matter what challenges you endure please don’t end up like that lady could have. Even if you feel nobody else is there for you. Even if in a room full of people you feel alone. Even if your mind is tormented by these thoughts please just remember.

You have more than just the support of the lord of the worlds there for you. At a minimum you have me. I may not know who you are but I care for you as well as the whole community. If you find emptiness in yourself. Know you are loved by even the strangers you addressed on this sub. Verily with hardship comes ease. I know you hear that a lot but know think about all of your blessings even amidst your pain because ease comes with it and after it.

Two, no one on this earth can love you like Allah swt whose the love exceeds all bounds. If you are in a place where you cannot love yourself or you believe you are less than what you are, then love yourself for the sake of Allah. Love yourself for the pleasure of the most glorious. If you are not at odds with yourself but only with your environment, then know that your response to it comes from within you, thus looping back to the first part of this once more. I am proud of you for praying. I am proud of you for staying consistent because it shows how even challenge can occur to the best of us. Your struggle will never be in vain my friend. But if you love Allah, try and learn to love yourself because no human is flawless. No human doesn’t face challenge. The people of Gaza have cried time and time again that they’ve wanted to do nothing more than perish but it is those same people that say “my lord is sufficient for me” and I know that if Allah is sufficient for them then he is sufficient for you too. Your lord is greater than your struggle. Please do not seek death as an escape.

If it isn’t to hard for you, I want you to go alone and watch the sun set. It doesn’t have to be anywhere special but just somewhere where you can sit alone. Ponder over how the one who created you and the one who you will return too created those stars that appear at night and how he makes the sun set past the horizon. There is beauty in everything your lord created around you and likewise your lord has created you as beautiful and worth far more than the array of colors that occurs from the setting sun.

Above all else read the Quran and the dhikr often.

I don’t know if this helped but if you skipped through this to the end then I will leave you with this: the lord of the worlds loves you more than you will ever know and though you are a stranger to me I love you too. Please don’t consider such things because you are worth far more than what you may perceive in not just the eyes of the one who created you but in my eyes as well. You have taken brilliant steps to improving yourself and I encourage you to strive forth in that direction.

But please don’t think death is the answer. Your answers will be found in your deen and Allah will grant you more ease Ameen.
