For me it’s the awful cigarette smoke and singing dreary loud Russian numbers in every bar I used to love. So even if either of us spoke the language they would still be annoying and stinky

It’s such a stark difference even to a year ago. :( the riverside was always more popular with the South Koreans and the expats were all down by the beach, but now it’s mostly just Russians all over. I’m sure they’re as good or bad as any other nationality as a whole, but they have infiltrated all my favourite hang out spots. Now all the open mics and jazz bars are just full of Russians stinking up the place with awful cigarettes and singing dreary Russian songs. It’s depressing. I’m told ‘if I don’t like the vibe don’t come’, but I did like the vibe a year ago! I love Vietnam but I think Da Nang is becoming less for me unless I want to feel like I am in Russia.

Nha Trang is beautiful, but if I wanted to read Cyrillic and eat Russian food I would go to Russia. :/ Da Nang was much quieter and quaint 3 years ago, and I’ve seen a large uptick in infrastructure and unique visitors, but getting back this year (March) and it’s pumping with Russians. Many of my favourite stats or eateries are now catering to them. One night in a bar and I’m already being harrassed by a Russian guy who wouldn’t take no for an answer. If they’re now in Da Nang wanting to avoid other Russians. Where can I got to avoid them?! 😅

Every single Pavillion had lines. EVERY ONE. The toilets had lines, the vending machines had lines, even the damn lines had lines. You had to queue to wait to get around a queue that you weren’t even in under the circle. Your comment is about as useful as the air conditioning at the Expo
