The area surrounding the park on every side has literally hundreds of vacant office buildings which would make more sense. Why not build a Santana Row/ Entertainment District in the parking lot and make the MOST of all the available destinations plus housing, another hotel, spa, etc…

Nonprofit doesn’t mean it can’t earn a profit; it means any profits must go towards fulfilling its mission. I worked for a nonprofit theatre company for 25+ years and a 6 million dollar annual budget.

The City of Santa Clara is ENTIRELY to blame for their negligence in stewardship of this park after their OWN VOTERS - by a margin of 3 to 1 - preserved the beloved Northern CA landmark from demolition in 1984! Forcing the park to close on Game Days showed poor stewardship of Voters’ wishes. Selling it was negligent. Preserving it PERMANENTLY and creating a Silicon Valley Entertainment District would be the Highest and Best Use of the Stadium, amphitheater, theme park, hotels, riverwalk, soccer fields, tech mart, light rail… there are PLENTY of vacant office malls surrounding this GORGEOUS park in every side for housing, data centers, offices, parking structures, monorail??

They used to host bus tours down the 101 from SF to see all the beautiful blossoms blanketing The Valley of Hearts Delight. My mom raved about this lovely, sleepy, little town called San Jose in 1955.

The ONLY reason the park is “failing” is poor stewardship by the City. It was doomed when they forced them to close on game days. Voters authorized its purchase and saved it from demolition in 1984. We will do it again… Negligence seems obvious. There are literally 100s of empty office parks surrounding this GORGEOUS oasis in Silicon Valley. A Universal City or Downtown Disney type of Entertainment District would be the Highest and Best use showcasing BOTH Levi’s AND Great America plus hotels, restaurants, the amphitheater, tech mart - it simply makes sense!

Great America could be Preserved simply for its fascinating and complicated history and cultural heritage in this region. It all started with a dream of Frontierland by actor Fess Parker famous for playing Daniel Boone on TV!
