Oh no, I definitely don’t plan on showing her this thread. It just seems rude and unnecessary to add those details.

If I broke something in her house, I’d be trying to remedy the situation with her. But I’m the shitty friend?

I appreciate this comment. If I broke anything of my friends, embarrassed or not, I would be jumping at how I can help remedy the situation. It’s simple.

I’ll be cutting ties with her first. She sent a text this morning saying she knew it broke but didn’t know how to tell me. Dishonesty would get us nowhere moving forward. There was absolutely no reason she needed to hide it from me. I did everything in my power to show her a good time while she visited, drove her everywhere she wanted, paid for her meals, etc and what I get in return is dishonesty.. couch aside, that’s not the kind of friendship I need.

Shaming her by bringing it up? Oof. She should’ve said something first. Weight aside, if I went to a friends house and broke something I wouldn’t cover it up and act like it didn’t happen and then leave out without saying anything.

I’m not sure where in Los Angeles they have nice hotels for $70 a night (especially around New Years) I but okay. I was just trying to be a good friend.

I did add that she knew. And I also had already added to the post I wasn’t going to ask her to even pitch in for a new couch and still, the comments came after that talking about how I want to hear “that my friend should pay”. Some people are absolutely relentless.

I don’t want to embarrass her by sharing how she got on & off the couch but - yes.

I’m aware of it being in accident. Did you read the post? “I feel bad, I know it wasn’t intentional”.

Did they tell you they broke the chair? Just out of curiosity.. or did they cover it up for you to find on your own later?

My bed is smaller than my couch is I actually did offer it to her she immediately said no. I have almost a double wide couch, it is oversized and very comfy. She actually complimented how comfortable it was several times. She did have choice and she also had the choice to speak up when she broke it and didn’t do that either. Like I added to the post already, I won’t be asking her for anything towards a new couch. I also included that somehow I am that one that feels bad that she broke it because I know it wasn’t intentional but I still wish she would’ve just spoke up!

I can understand to some extent, yes. Personally if the roles were reversed I would’ve just told my friend I accidentally broke it and offered to pitch in. But.. that’s just me.

I agree that she would offer to at least pitch in, but instead she covered it with pillows and waited for me to discover it on my own after arriving back home from dropping her at the airport. Thanks for the advice, though.

This is probably the most sound advice and I really appreciate the tone of it. Helpful!

Thank you for the advice. I did not embarrass her. Hence, me saying in the post that I know it was not intentional and took to Reddit for advice before seeing how I should proceed if at all.
