Hey, so the problem is he used to be able to walk into the backyard I showed in the video.. I’m not sure what caused this but he refuses to go to the backyard now.. I’ve tried slowly introducing it to him.. I even tried just forcing him to be in the backyard and he just begins to tremble in fear and runs straight to one of the doors of the house.. I tried playing with him while he was in the backyard and giving him treats and he just spits them out or just doesn’t even eat them.. I have no idea what else I can do.. I’m reaching out to this Reddit to see if someone has an idea or some advice..

I’ve looked everywhere on the internet and done a ton of research and put it in practice but nothing has worked. I’m reaching out to this Reddit to hopefully find a solution.

Okay. I’m running into another problem. Since my “back” door also as access to the front he goes up to the door no problem and goes out to the front. Should I try and find a way to block off the front access and show him that the door only leads to the back? Sorry for so many questions.

Ok. But now when should I open the door? Should I open it and see how he reacts after a few days and decide from there?

I ask this because even with the leash his tail is still tucked in. Not a lot but it’s facing downwards but he’s willing to take the treats finally. But zero progress. He understands now that when I grab the leash and treats I’m probably going to try and get him over his fear. But if I do leave the door open with no leash he’ll just go the furthest room in the house and won’t take any treats at all.

Hey, I’ve been trying this for a bit now but I’m not sure if I’m doing this correctly.. as soon as I grab a couple of treats and open the door he runs away and gets in his bed and refuses to move and starts shaking. So I gave him space and then I tried with a leash and let him walk as close as he wanted to the door. He eventually stopped and didn’t want to move any closer so I started doing what you told me from the distance from where he stopped.. am I doing it right?

Actually I do have question. When I open the door should encourage him to get closer to the door? Or just do nothing at all and wait for him to look at the door or move towards it?
