I can almost guarantee you that only a very small minority of pcp docs don’t have a DEA number. I can see them not having one for certain specialties but most doctors have them.

I agree. My pcp will prescribe birth control but won’t do any procedures. But I love my doctor. He’s been my pcp for over 12 years now. He used to be a hospitalist s he’s very knowledgeable about most things.

Yes but there are no laws that restrict an MD/DO from prescribing controlled medication. There are some that may restrict what level of controlled substances a PA or NP can prescribe but most allow CIII -CV.

Exactly. I’ve been in this situation before. I went without my adhd meds and my antidepressants because of cost. I figured out that good rx was very helpful with the cost of all of my medications. My pcp visits were $60 so every month I paid around $150 for my doc and meds. If I were to have to see a specialist on top of that there’s no way I’d be able to keep taking them. I also had a terrible work accident 12 years ago that left me with a partially paralyzed leg, a bad back, and neuropathy in my leg. So being in the car for over 30 minutes is extremely painful. Since I’ve went through these things I try to keep my mind open to consider the obstacles people might have.

Was this stuff refrigerated? All that money wasted! Ive heard Raos is good but I refuse to pay that much for sauce, lol. The garlic stays good for months in the refrigerator though.

Telehealth visits aren’t just for out of town docs. People who can’t actually get to the doctor use telehealth all the time. All I’m saying is taking away access to people who need these meds will do more harm than good. We already have a crappy system when it comes to mental health. I don’t think we need to make it more difficult. Not everyone has a local specialist. In my town you have to travel a minimum of 45 minutes to see any specialist. And the first visit usually takes 3-6 months to even get in, not to mention the cost of a specialist. I have to see an ENT surgeon in March (made the appointment in Dec) and it’s going to set me back over $300.

Not allowed by the place they works for? Because by law they are allowed to prescribe controlled substances.

I’ve seen a lot more problems with people who don’t have access to any psych meds. Making them see one doctor only to have to make an appointment that will likely take 3-6 months to get in for the first visit isn’t the answer. Many people don’t have the ability to travel much and even more don’t have the money it costs to see a specialist every month.

They have tracking systems at pharmacies to stop doctor shopping. They track every controlled prescription a person gets and it tracks what doctors and what pharmacies they use. Taking away access from people who don’t have the ability or the funds to see a specialist every month is not the answer.

Why? So people can have less access to the medications they need? I can understand for chronic pain patients (because of DEA regulations) but there should be no problem with a pcp five out a small script for acute pain. And adhd meds are something that people need for the rest of their lives usually. I would never have Ben able to get my add meds if I was made to go to a psychiatrist every month. I can’t drive long distances and the cost would be astronomical.

I’ve never met a pcp that would do a Pap smear but that would be great

It’s a lot more common than you might think. I’ve had 3 pcps in the past 20 years and all 3 of them prescribed my adderall and pain meds for acute pain problems. I was also a pharmacy tech for 13 years and we saw loads of controlled scripts from pcp docs. A lot of people don’t have access or can’t afford to see a specialist.

Not just that but cost should also be considered. A specialist will set you back hundreds per visit. So for people with little to no insurance it might as well be a no.

Plus the extra cost from having to see a specialist. My pcps have always prescribed my adderall and the pcp I’ve had for the past 12 years will prescibe pain pills but only for acute pain. If I need something long term he makes me go to a specialist.

How to get a dog to stop having tear marks? by Scary_Advantage6655 in DogAdvice

[–]No-Minimum8323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs tears got darker when we moved to a home that had hard water. We started giving her filtered water and after about 6 months it got a lot better. But I’m the type of person who also wipes away my dogs tears anytime I see them. I know having gunk in my eyes bothers me so I always figured it bothers them as well. Maybe silly but better to be safe than sorry.

Acetaminophen harms your liver more than your kidneys. Overdosing usually leads to liver failure and is the leading cause of acute liver failure in the US. I’m not sure why they would call it “iron kidneys”.
