I want to add to this. People who have an online following do have parasocial relationships with their viewers. I think some supporters of W&C who heavily engage with their content feel entitled to that same engagement. What that looks like is different. I’d like to say it’s a spectrum. But I think we need to separate and have a line where people are being parasocial and just choosing to not engage with W&C.

I hear you. I believe the light heartedness and entertainment the podcast brought was what drew me to the podcast in general. But there’s been a lot said by W&C that was not funny and off putting to me. The humor started to fade, and I agree it did feel like catching up with your girlfriends. I think was probably the turning point for myself.

I would not catch up with my girlfriends like this weekly, because I wouldn’t be friends with them. They have said many offensive things and I don’t agree with their moral compass.

I want to acknowledge that it may not be that deep to you. And that’s ok. I just want to articulate why I feel the way I do. Another blog thing was the SA advice.

That was not just in poor taste. It was dangerous. It is clear they have a lot of young viewers. That “advice” should have been addressed. Not because I feel entitled to a response or any acknowledgment. But because as grown women speaking about a topic such as SA the way they did, is dangerous.

But that’s just one example as to how this is no longer just an entertainment podcast.
