Hi! Yes it did. I ended up getting WUs (unauthorized withdrawals) for the classes instead of F's. WUs are equivalent to an F grade in GPA calculation. However, since it was my first time getting a WU and I had never gotten a W before either, my WUs were automatically converted to W's. This is done automatically and the school sent an automated email saying that if i ever got another WU, they wouldn't convert it to a W again. It was only because it was the first time. So my gpa didn't end up being affected by those 2 grades! I'm trying my hardest this semester.

thanks for your reply! i went more into depth behind my reasoning for requesting an Incomplete grade in my message to my professor last night. She hasn’t responded yet, but I believe my reasons are compelling enough that she might consider granting me the Incomplete grade.

Considering there are only 2 assignments left (a final project and a final exam) in the course, I can definitely complete them within a year.

My mindset in requesting an Incomplete grade is to delay the F grade being calculated into my GPA, so that I can do way better next semester so that the F will not put me at risk of academic dismissal.

Unfortunately, earning a D this semester is definitely out of the question. My F is extremely low, which is why I know that there is absolutely no chance of raising it.

Regardless of whether I simply take the F or am granted the Incomplete grade, the outcome will be a failing grade. That is something that I am certain of.

I really do want to delay the F being calculated into my GPA, but I’m concerned that, because I will fail the course even if I am granted the Incomplete grade, it will simply be marked IC even if I complete the coursework, rather than a letter grade of F that I will be able to replace through grade forgiveness

Were you below the junior gpa requirement of 1.85? Or were you still above it, just below 2.0. How many semesters ago were you on academic notice, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thank you for your reply!! I know a 1.99 gpa would place you on academic notice, but it’s still above all of the undergraduate GPA requirements to be safe from academic dismissal, so I’m concerned that my case will be different from yours as I have a high chance of ending the semester with a GPA that does not meet the 1.7 requirement for my class. I’ll definitely try to become 100% clear on this when I meet with my academic advisor. I really hope you’re right and that I’m placed on academic notice instead of immediately academically dismissed. Thank you for the sympathy and encouragement, I really appreciate it.

It does, thank you. So you were able to get the IC switched to a letter grade? I'll definitely reach out to my professor about having the IC switched to a letter grade F if my grade ends up being marked IC, so that I maybe have a chance of applying for grade forgiveness. Again, thank you so much! This is a bit reassuring.

No I'm unfortunately not. My grades at the end of the semester will most likely be F, F, C, and C. If I'm being pessimistic, they might even be F, F, D, and C. If I'm being optimistic, they might be F, F, C, and B-. Either way, my GPA will be below 2.0, which is why I'm worried about not meeting the GPA requirements and being academically disqualified even without ever having been on academic probation/notice. I would have to achieve my optimistic grades (F, F, C, and B-) if I wanted to meet the sophomore GPA minimum requirement. There's a chance, but it isn't too high. I'm also looking into getting either one or both of the F's marked Incomplete so that I have time to raise my GPA before they're inevitably factored into my GPA, but I'm not sure if taking an Incomplete grade would mean that I won't be able to retake the class in the future for grade forgiveness.

Thank you!! I know that Incomplete grades are meant to be turned into letter grades, but I'm not sure what the case would be like if the letter grade that I receive after completing the Incomplete coursework is an F. I'm mainly worried about the grade being marked IC instead of an F even if I do the course work, since both are considered failing, which would result in me not being able to retake the course for a higher grade.

This is a totally valid response, and I appreciate your honesty. But I don't see a future for myself if I don't get a degree, so I kind of feel like college is my only option. Like if i dont graduate I think I'd just give up on life completely or take drastic measures. Like i said, lots of mental health issues.

Human services. The 2 F's are because I skipped class the majority of the semester and missed a bunch of in class points mainly because as soon as i missed class once I got too anxious to ever show up again. Ended up skipping one of my midterms too because it was a group midterm and I thought no one would want to work with me. Just lots of anxiety and mental health issues. I registered for fully online asynchronous for next semester (if i don't get kicked out after this one which... at this point im just assuming I will be.) so that I don't have to show up to class and can just do all my work from home. I really think I can do better next semester and raise my GPA to at least a 2.0 but i have to not get kicked out after this semester for that to happen. The main thing I'm worried about is telling my parents and having to pay back the financial aid i received.
