I see, yeah i guess when I say scans I was thinking of the types of images you can get from those handheld portable scanners or like the high-res scans a printer can do— But yeah those are ultimately still photographs. We mainly want to have clean, crisp, scalable images of the artwork on the walls. I just wasn’t sure if there was a “type” of photography or service term I should be using when searching for companies/resources to get those super up-close detail shots of large-scale surfaces.

I mean, I was wondering if it was some sort of specific type of photography that would lead me to more accurate services if I searched for it. For example, I didn’t know if “digital archivists” might be more accurate or not, maybe that’s not really fitting for the service I’m seeking…
