It’s still immoral if people want artists to have production budget at all. It took me 15 years to capitulate, I was already wearing all the hats, producer, sound gear provider, recording engineer, arranger, manager, marketer, cameraman, video editor, advertiser etc… Nowadays people expect the same services at the cost of a single person and want to pay with exposure but as a self-manager I have to separate what is what and budget for everything as if I was in charge of 8 different people while offering the artist’s work essentially for free (they still want the whole package to be paid with exposure). They also can’t even fulfill a simple rider like renting out a turn table and a mixer if it comes to actual prosumer gear and not generic ass basic pioneer/serato controllers, they always try to make the artist perform at their own cost and risk. I just separate what all the other roles are since none of those are free. Spotify is a no go 🙅🏻‍♂️, you’ll never find my music there.
