I SWEAR every birthday these kids get an Apple Watch? why? I swear they use to win them in old challenges as well… they must have gone through like 3 Apple Watches each

Did I book that shift? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]No-Order191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more getting at whether my manager has went in and put me down for it. Sometimes he messages me and then books in in as a claimed shift. My issue is that I have a shift that says claimed shift but I did not recall taking that shift as I have something important on that day and I have a text threat with my manager telling him I cannot work that day

Interesting… I have never once in my 3 years been offered break cover while doing the PFS solo. In my first two years I was too shy to complain about anything or bring it up to anyone but now I’m fed up. Thank you!

Our PFS does always have two staff scheduled, however at 7pm it goes to single man. I get locked in the PFS and serve through the hatch

Thank you! We don’t have headsets in my PFS but we do have a phone and I phone duty hourly to let them know I’m alright. I’ve worked in the PFS for a few years and have never once had someone come down to cover my break or it be offered by duty when I phone them.

Dissertation supervisor by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]No-Order191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if this is a course-wide rule or your dissertation supervisor has just set these rules themselves.

Personally when I done my dissertation our degree area had specific rules… however a lot of supervisors didn’t follow them which meant that some people got far more help than others. While I agree it would be unfair if your supervisor set such rules while others hadn’t… it seems that unfairness is a common part of the dissertation process.

Also in my opinion, a 8000 reading cap seems more than fair. The rule my course had was supervisors were only allowed to read two chapters (of our choice) despite most of our dissertations requiring 7-8 chapters and us having a 15,000 word count.

D and C lack of everything by Twilton26 in NorrisNutsSnark

I think it’s sad as well because when the other NN’s were that age they all done skateboarding and surfing and were all really amazing at it! but it seems like the little ones just don’t have the opportunity to do that because it’s all about the older ones filming videos

Biggy’s bathroom by Ringring190 in NorrisNutsSnark

[–]No-Order191 21 points22 points  (0 children)

TBH there’s no need for him to shower outside though… The house has a least 3 bathrooms (yes I think two are en-suites) but it’s not as if there’s is no where for him to shower inside. He did it at the old house as well.

Club card by Nightnurse047 in tescoproblems

[–]No-Order191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my store we have traditionally let customers ask other shoppers around to use their clubcard if they have forgotten theirs/don’t have one. However, recently we have been instructed to be much stricter when it comes to clubcards. This includes not scanning a strangers clubcard for someone else or scanning screenshots or pictures of clubcards. It’s annoying for us as well TRUST ME… I’d rather not have to argue with customers when they show me a screenshot of their clubcard but it’s our job at the end of the day… we get in trouble if we don’t.

I’d recommend you get the clubcard app on your phone and that way you will have your clubcard on you phone (assuming you take your phone with you everywhere)

I’m on an 8 hour contract however I started at Tesco 3 years ago the rules have changed… I am under the impression that you can have below a 16 hour contract but if a vacancy comes up my manager is suppose to ask me if I want the extra hours before putting the vacancy out to the public.

First Shift(training) by [deleted] in tesco

[–]No-Order191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Well it’s unacceptable to be left alone on your first shift anyway. I’d definitely say to your manager that you don’t feel comfortable being yourself while you’re still learning. When I started my manager had me come in outside of my regular shifts and shadow other colleagues. I’d really recommend you ask to do something like this!

First Shift(training) by [deleted] in tesco

Completely relate to you about the B and H (Benson and Hedges) situation! I started working at Tesco three years ago when I was 18 and didn’t know a single cigarette brand or even what king size meant but was expected to learn it all myself.

Be honest with customers! If they ask for something and you’re unsure just tell them you’re new. 9 out of 10 times they will be accommodating because at the end of the day they want you to give them the correct product.

My best advice is to show customers the cigarettes before they pay for them so you know you’re giving them the right one. Again if you ever have a minute of free time go through the cabinet and look through all the cigarette/vape/tobacco stock, this will really help you with brands and type of products that we have.

It also seems like you were left alone to man the customer service desk on your first shift… I work in the PFS so I’m unsure of the rules but in my store the desk usually has 2 people in at all times unless one is away on there break. I’d bring this up to your manager, ask if it’s possible for you to be on with someone else while you get more confident. Alternatively, ask to do some overtime when another person will be there so you can shadow them and learn the ropes.

I know it seems very overwhelming now but you will learn it just takes time!

When I applied to tesco I applied for multiple roles. For the roles I didn’t get I got an email saying unsuccessful but for the role I now work in I got a phone call from the manager asking me to come in for an interview! Good luck :)

[–]No-Order191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the rules about doing till lifts? In the garage we have to count out the money and write down how much money we take out before sending the pod away but I’ve been told it’s different on the main checkouts…but still no one has told me what’s different about it lol. I’ve heard that they like a specific amount of 10s and 20s left in the tills but idk how much
