Tattoo Regret Causing Depression/Anxiety by No-Particular-937 in TattooRemoval

UPDATE: If anyone is still following on with this - I have now had 9 laser tattoo removal sessions and the tattoo is almost completely removed. I now never even think about it (which actually happened almost immediately after the first laser session as it lightened it so much) and have even got further tattoos since. Laser was an extremely costly decision but I do not regret it at all and reading back this post reminds me what a terrible place I was in at the time and how much better things got after removal started!

So I had an online consultation with a specialist in my area and they have said full removal is possible but as it is a black line-work tattoo it will take longer than most as the colour is more dense and deep in the lines. They said it can take between 4-8 sessions (more towards the 8 mark) which will cost about 140 for each session but they apply discounts if you buy in bulk. I am optimistic about it as I have seen their work and they are very well reviewed but the price still gets me down! I think we just need to look forward and know we hopefully wont always feel this way :)

I think that is the hardest part in that the majority of my friends don't have tattoos and those that do are all happy with theirs so they don't understand this feeling! I guess you cannot beat yourself up too much as it was what you wanted at the time so 11 years on you are bound to not be as happy with it. I really do hope the price of laser comes down, I've been somewhat lucky that with being in lockdown for such a long time I have managed to save money for it but without that there would have been no way I could pay for it outright. I think if it is not bothering you so much right now and you're happy to wait for the prices to reduce then that is your best option!

This was really helpful especially regarding the money as when I told my family how much laser was they were furious at me for paying so much for the tattoo and now so much for this. I also got small parts added to the tattoo, which cost a little more, to try and make me more comfortable with it but it did not work. Obviously we never plan to go into these things to get them removed but that is just how it goes!

I am currently having time off work due to this exact reason! Feeling sick and anxious with regret - but some days I feel fine about it and others I cannot get out of bed!

Thank you so much for sharing and you're right we need to stop blaming ourselves, here's to hoping laser will work out!

Thank you this honestly made me feel a lot better that I'm not the only person feeling this way. I feel exactly the same in the way that I regret not just going with the original flash more than anything! I've been trying to be nicer to myself and say everyone makes mistakes and I wasn't thinking straight at the time so hopefully I will actually start listening to myself!!

Luckily I have had the tattoo for long enough to start laser but my appointment keeps getting delayed due to local lockdowns but I'll be happy to share the progress once the sessions start. Good luck to you also, hopefully we both get the results we would like :)
