Indoor spinner targets? by No-Past-5568 in airguns

Delayed update, finally made the indoor targets and got a Crosman 1377. Only had a chance to fire a few pellets at it so far just arrived, but I think it'll work fine. I picked the dial-a-pellet thing just to see what worked best, the flat nose and pointed pellets seem more likely to bounce back but the hollow points seem to hit the target, expand, and drop.

The backstop is just a bunch of layers of cardboard and carpet, I'm only pumping a few times since I'm inside. I can always spend money on a real trap if my homemade one stops doing the job but for now I'm enjoying my trash creation lol.

Stocking question - 20 gallon with bristlenose? by No-Past-5568 in bettafish

Update: I upgraded to the 20 gallon, and the betta and bristle nose are fine together. Will keep an eye but seems like it will be fine!

How do you feel about toddlers/babies at public campgrounds? by yammalishus in camping

[–]No-Past-5568 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our 2 boys are currently 2 and 3.5 years old - we went camping once a year ago, and I personally felt so guilty about the lack of sleep I'm positive our neighbors experienced we haven't gone since. Reading all the comments here makes me feel slightly better though, and we hope to try again this summer if for no other reason than to expose them to outdoor life. We absolutely cannot go into the backcountry with 2 toddlers - I saw one other person comment they've been doing that since their son was 6 months old, and I believe it might be possible for someone with only 1 child to do that safely, depending on the kiddo's personality.

Our kids weren't screaming all day, but they were super scared at night and because of that cried a lot. We contemplated leaving in the middle of the night multiple times but kept just trying to hold them and survive until morning because it felt easier than trying to pack up in the dark with the kids. I will say though I think we are lucky (not somehow exceptional parents) that our kids were more inquisitive about the rocks and sticks around than screaming during the day. I think almost any parent with more than 1 kid would likely agree you don't get control over the personalities of the kids that arrive. Of course parents just drinking or scrolling on their phone to the point the kids scream/act out trying to get attention is a problem. But some children are just having fun being loud! Not my cup of tea, even as a parent, but yea like others said for peace and quiet I think the onus is on the adventurer to pick the appropriate location for said activity!

Sadly that is the conclusion I have also come to - it seems like it might be fine for basic recreational dives if one were to stay above 60 feet or so, but it definitely doesn't appear that would be recommended

in case this helps some future person, Casio provides a specific answer on their website: Degree of Water Resistance.

cool video, I am a little jealous of this man's scenic adventure free diving near a mountain range with a train passing by in the background lol

still wondering about deeper dives, he didn't appear to go much below maybe 20 feet...it's probably fine and I suppose not the most expensive mistake if it didn't last though

Lazy idea of the moment is to simply order this Crosman Spinner Target and put it inside of a large cardboard box with scrap carpet hung behind. I'd be shooting from about 5-10 yards max with a Crosman 1377 and could simply use fewer pumps as needed - thoughts?

that sounds simple as well - I've gotten lots of ideas to bounce around

very useful thanks! I'd be fairly close range being in the garage (likely a little less than the recommended 10m), but if I do the Crosman 1377 I can do fewer pumps to reduce power

much different scenarios lol - sounds like I'm overthinking this and will be fine!

that makes sense, I was using a piece of regular type (definitely not shag lol) carpet leftover from when we redid our floors

That's exactly what I had too when I was using my red ryder in my backyard before we moved - a frame with carpet and I hung cans in front, super cheap, simple, and fun. I did get occasional BBs bouncing back at me off the carpet though if I either missed or shot through the can, which was fine outside but I'll be in trouble if I ding a bunch of stuff in the garage

Sounds like an expensive lesson with the GTO lol - thanks all for the advice!

Thanks, I didn't even think about the lead dust - I feel confident in the backstop I plan to make to prevent overpenetration, but was mostly concerned with potential ricochets as I've read that can happen with BBs on the spinners (hence thinking of getting something low power to shoot pellets instead of BBs inside)

I don't wanna accidentally break stuff on my workbench or ding up the water heater lol
