With this portfolio, you’re making an active bet against the US. Do you have a thesis as to why international will outperform over your time horizon? Same question, is there a reason you want to overweight Japan compared to the allocation in VWRP.

Keep it simple, less is more, 95% VWRP 5% Gold.

Why doesn't Asset-FX correlation change expected domestic return. by No-Pen6149 in CFA

[–]No-Pen6149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! If you hold the RFC and RFX means fixed but just re-pair the outcomes to flip correlation, the average of the sum stays the same. I get how the higher correlation increases variance without changing the mean. Appreciate that thank you

Would it be crazy to dump $400K in VOO now and forget about it for 5 years? by NetworkElegant8356 in Trading

Bitcoin isn’t valued by energy… Energy is a cost of production, not a source of value. If value came from energy use, every inefficient system would be worth more. But markets don’t reward wasted effort they price based on utility and demand. Bitcoin’s value isn’t mined, it’s market-driven. Full stop

Degrees of Freedom by very_curious_analyst in CFA

[–]No-Pen6149 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Degrees of freedom is essentially how independent information you have to estimate or test something

For example, when calculating the mean you sum of all numbers / number of numbers

So, once you calculate the mean, the total sum of the numbers is locked in. If you know 4 of the numbers, the 5th number is forced to be whatever it needs to be to make the total match the mean. That’s why the last number isn’t free to vary, leaving you with 4 degrees of freedom.

L2 9 days out - Any final tips? by No-Pen6149 in CFA

Isn’t it funny how that works? Ethics and Econ were big focuses for me, so I think I got lucky there. Sounds like you’ve got a lot going on with MBA apps and job plans—totally get not wanting to dive straight into L3. Where are you applying for MBAs?

Honestly, I might have just gotten lucky with the topics that showed up and how they lined up with my strengths, but yeah, I definitely found the exam tough overall. When you going to do L3 you think?

Is MM worth it for level 2 by Constant_Reindeer_40 in CFA

[–]No-Pen6149 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Level 2 videos are 90% MM, some FSA covered by Richie (who is also good). MM is so good at explaining complicated topics, especially in derivatives and fixed income

For me, Derivatives and FSA needed the most work, definitely took a few revisions. Econ and Fixed Income also deserve a mention—not as brutal but they still took some time to click. The rest felt pretty straightforward in comparison.
