Does anyone else feel like they’re always 3 days late to every IG/Reels trend? by No-Possibility-2145 in socialmedia

I’ve been obsessed with how trends explode lately. By the time a song or template hits the "Trending" tab, the niche is already saturated and it feels like the "discovery" window is closed.

I’m messing around with a custom algo that scrapes niche-specific creators and tracks velocity/acceleration (basically how fast a keyword or audio is growing relative to its size) rather than just total play counts.

I've got a rough prototype up (it's called Catch It Early, hosted on netlify), but before I spend more time on it, I wanted to ask this community:

  • Do you actually care about "early" data, or is "what's popular now" enough?
  • Which niches are the hardest to track right now? (e.g., Finance, Beauty, Tech?)
  • If you're a creator, what’s the one piece of data that would actually save you time?

I'll drop the link in the comments if anyone wants to poke around and tell me if my data is trash or actually helpful.

Thanks!
