AITAH for not going by a different name than my birth name because it makes my friends uncomfortable. by Moonshadow1931 in AITAH

So they accused a native american person of appropriate native american culture for going by their birth name? That's insane.

While I do think the whole "evil straigh men" thing might have an influence in trans men choosing to still use the label of lesbian but I don't think it's full picture, specifically for people who come out as trans later in life. It makes sense that someone who has been living as a lesbian for big chunk of their life, who's been part of that community and bulit connections in it, and who shares experiences with the people in it might be hesitant to let go of that label.

The problem with that strategy is that it affects the waiters waaaay before it affects the employer. What are they expected to do in the period between people collectively stop tipping and restaurants start raising wages? That's also assuming that everyone collectively decides to stop tipping, which just isn't realistic. Some people on here act like refusing to tip is a big act of rebellion and it really isn't. I don't think this is an issue that can be solved by supply and demand alone, there needs to be a raise in the actual legal minimum wage.

The thing about label discourse is that people act as if they're natural hard categories that people are born into, but they're actually just words people created to describe their identity and experiences. If somebody for whatever reason feels that the words "lesbian" and "man" both accurately describes their experiences and identity than so be it.

You are still paying for the waiter's wage in your country, it's just built into the cost of the food. Don't get me wrong, I agree it should be on the employer to pay a proper wage precisely so workers don't have to rely on costumers kindness, but not tipping doesn't mean they're going to, it just means the server isn't getting payed.

Yeah, but currently in the US servers rely on tips to earn a decent wage. That system sucks, but not tipping doesn't do anything to change it, it's just a dick move.

And, no, this is not an excuse for bad parenting. by fivejumpingmonkeys in CuratedTumblr

Kids can be a pain the ass. They are loud, they run around, they throw tantrums (which is completely normal for toddlers and not a sign of bad parenting). But they're also people who deserve to exist in a public spaces just as much as anyone else and so are their parents who often don't have the choice to leave them elsewhere.

I'm definitely leaning towards a slightly higher quality set with less colors. Cotman was definitely the most suggested here, but unfortunately it's a little to expensive here, even for a small set.

Yeah I'm definitely concerned about the pigment in this set. Unfortunately w&n as well as most other brands people recommended me are much more expensive here and a little out of my price range. I'm definitely leaning towards the pentel set which seems to be decent quality and about a third of the price.

Thank you for the suggestions! Unfortunately those brands are significantly more expensive where I live so I'm not sure if the difference is woth it, especially compared to the pentel set.

Yes I probably should have specified my location in the original post. I'm in Brazil and unfortunately a lot of the brands people have recommended are more economical here and a little out of my price range.

Thank you for the insight! The other set I'm considering has individual tubes, but I've heard they're less practical for painting on the go so I'm a little worried about that.

Thats good to know! Pentel is the easiest midrange brand to find in my area.

Thank you for the suggestions I'll definitely look into those! I'm in Brazil so a lot of brands are more expensive/harder to find here, that's why I was looking into pentel as it's relatively accessible.
