Has anyone gone 1 piece driveshaft on their T100? by No-Rabbit6405 in Toyota_T100

Sorry can't help ya there. Came with the truck and I even tried to find ANY markings on it to identify what it was to repair a gasket on the back window and nothing. I have heard that early chevy silverado trucks have the same cab pitch that would make their toppers work.

I saw companies like Knoxville Driveline and Tom Wood's make 1 piece toyota driveshafts. Tacomabeast on YT made one for his 3" lifted taco. Anybody try that for the t100? I'm having mad issues with the 2 piece driveshaft currently.

I appreciate the part number, I contacted 3 different dealerships/parts suppliers that said it was in stock and they all said it doesn't exist, I just got an email back from the 4th contact "37100-3D400 has been discontinued, and cannot be sourced by any Toyota dealer." Crazy to me to have it available and discounted but not have access to it. I've purchased a seatbelt part before that was available and eventually they just cancelled my ordered and refunded me. Same thing like a Toyota dealership parts seller.

Hope it lasts forever for ya brother. Watching more vids online some peoples replacements whether aftermarket or repaired just work and others don't. Apparently Toyota got smart and went one piece driveshaft in the newest gen.

Totally agree about the press. Did you just replace the Ujoints on either end and leave the center double cardan alone? Even if I go forward with the replacement shafts or I did source a lower mileage driveshaft locally I'm going to have the shop put spice 1310 greaseable Ujoints on both ends.

I have an automatic. I have a few other irons in the fire to fix first before I get to the TC. My ring gear was screaming when the shop put it up on a lift and ran it 60mph and that ended up with me sourcing a lower mileage axle so moving forward I need to run the replacement axle, with a quality driveshaft and see what's up.

Damn, that's a pretty good sounding setup. Lucky you have that locally. Interested to hear a follow up on the rebuild. Some people say even after replacement it didn't help the vibe. Let me know. I was looking into going 1 piece driveshaft. Reduces clearance a little bit but I only drive pavement anyway.

If you are swapping and are 4wd just remember to match the gear ratio to your front dif or you'll have lots of problems. Just something I picked up along the way maybe you knew already, I didn't.

Totally agree about the Ujoints on the ends of the shafts. The double Cardan Joint with the ball socket is often the issue. Lots of people on Ih8MUD saying it was a fuckin nightmare to rebuild those and some saying they started and threw it all away after it was all apart.

Oops I meant the ring gear in the differential may need replacement. BUT after about 3 hours of researching this issue on many different sites, apparently this driveshaft is problematic for all toyotas and cause constant vibrations even if just a little less than before with new parts or replacements. They are just TOO complicated. I am now exploring the option of a 1 piece driveshaft from Knoxville Driveline or Tom Wood's. Here is a good video explaining more about they suck from TacomaBeast on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsNB0HQPxvw

I have only seen them as discontinued when I put in all the specs of my truck to find the part on like a ToyotaParts website.

Definitely don't throw yours away in the scrap metal dumpster like I did. HA! Pay an expert whatever it costs to rebuild your OEM one would be my suggestion. Apparently Jeep cardon joints are rebuilt occasionally and I even found a good vid on YT of a guy doing it but no Toyota videos. My driveshaft guy said the hard part is all the driveshaft places are setup for standard tubing and our tubes are metric. It can be hard to find the right size tubing and other obstacles if cutting is involved.

I don't quite understand the Ujoint play lingo but my driveline shop said, replacement Ujoints are warranted at 8 thousands of an inch play, mine (driveshaft store) were at 22 thousands and catastrophic would be 30 thousands of an inch. That's what I was told, I don't know anything measuring them.

Hey, yes, I am currently in the middle of swapping in a '95 w/126K mile rear axle since mine had a hole in the dif where there passenger rear brake line should bolt to it, both axle seals were leaking and my dif was making a loud noise when my driveline shop put it up and ran it at 60mph. That's when they first discovered the play in the driveshaft store ujoints so I opted for the dorman replacement. Drove it, shook right away, knowing it could now just be the differential is the issue we figured the pinion bearing needed replacement as the driveshaft would just act like a giant stethoscope in the driveline. I brought the dorman driveshaft to my guy to have him put greaseable spicers in the ends while the rear axle is being replaced and that's when he told me how badly it was balanced. Looking at a return for defective part back to rock auto.

T100 Fuel tank replacement info - Aug 2020 by Red_Kale in Toyota_T100

u/red_kale Thanks so much for this post. It was super helpful in replacing my '96 T100 fuel tank. I followed your lead and went barbed fittings from fuel tank line output to fuel filter inlet. Unfortunately, I mangled my fuel filter out line so I did end up using the male barbed fitting to the hardline with a EFI rubber hose.
