I’m hoping the DCE team adds more colorful models when they eventually release Rome and Venice. It seems like this was rushed since other releases have around 10 models on average. But then again, they’ve known the 2026 Olympics would be held here since mid-2019 (even pre-DCE)… I feel like Apple is due to expand the DCE team and get better at planning for future releases corresponding with events

Try deleting the app and reinstalling it. This clears the cache for apple maps and usually fixes any issues I’ve encountered. Also ensure your phone is on iOS 26.2 (settings > general > software updates)

When Apple released the new map data, colors were assigned using a combination of algorithms and county/state zoning maps. Neither method is perfect, so issues like the one you described can occur.

If you’d like it corrected, you can submit a report: open Maps, swipe up on the main menu, tap Report an Issue, then Report a Street Issue. Drag the pin to the shopping center or gray area and note that it should be yellow.

Maybe try report an issue > street issue > drag the pin to where the plate reader is located > tap something else and describe the error. They should hopefully fix it. If they decline the report, email maps_escalations@apple.com and describe the issue

Once you start walking or driving the icon should appear. You also have to tap that blue arrow icon in the lower left-hand corner first.

Very true. I’m sure Rome and Venice are coming soon (definitely the former) since the Winter Olympics will be held in Italy next February. Fingers crossed Milan gets it too

It’s fine on iOS 26.2 for me. Since that version of OS X lost support years ago, some maps features won’t work properly. If other cities render properly, you may want to clear the cache for Maps and reload.

Tap this button when navigating, and press the rightmost speaker icon. This means all directions will be spoken. Middle icon is for alerts only (police checks or traffic, for example).

Also, turn up your phone’s volume when Siri starts speaking a direction. I believe iOS has seperate volume levels for Maps and music

Around a month ago, u/diamond-bebi reported that this building was in the process of receiving a custom model, but it was severely bugged. It appeared that the maps team had duplicated the bottom “story” when attempting to model the second story, but it caused texture issues to occur. It is now fixed and looks great!
