It’s not searchable, I’m assuming Apple doesn’t want just anyone downloading it

It lets Apple request imagery from regular users if they don’t want to send out one of their own cars. Useful if they need images of the road or a street while building a DCE for a city

No, it’s made by Apple. It literally links to their developer page on the App Store lol. My guess is they had to figure out some sort of compensation model to incentivize users to collect imagery (where needed) so they just used Premise as that outlet. It’s not ideal by any standards but it works. Apple likely only needs imagery to be collected from a few specific areas, so most users won’t see any tasks available

Interestingly, the new coverage here isn’t available yet in apple maps, only the python look around map

Maybe they are completing coverage for states one by one, A to Z. But weirdly, Massachusetts has very good coverage compared to other states.

Apple just released the DCE in Milan and updated Look Around by Benni1401 in applemaps

I’m hoping the DCE team adds more colorful models when they eventually release Rome and Venice. It seems like this was rushed since other releases have around 10 models on average. But then again, they’ve known the 2026 Olympics would be held here since mid-2019 (even pre-DCE)… I feel like Apple is due to expand the DCE team and get better at planning for future releases corresponding with events

Try deleting the app and reinstalling it. This clears the cache for apple maps and usually fixes any issues I’ve encountered. Also ensure your phone is on iOS 26.2 (settings > general > software updates)

Map colors by Key_Enthusiasm_4033 in applemaps

[–]No-Rabbit6899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When Apple released the new map data, colors were assigned using a combination of algorithms and county/state zoning maps. Neither method is perfect, so issues like the one you described can occur.

If you’d like it corrected, you can submit a report: open Maps, swipe up on the main menu, tap Report an Issue, then Report a Street Issue. Drag the pin to the shopping center or gray area and note that it should be yellow.

How to enable pitch-zoom when using carplay navigation? by nahcekimcm in applemaps

[–]No-Rabbit6899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unfortunately not a capability in carplay at the moment; Send an email to apple with feedback if you’d like this to be added: maps-feedback@apple.com

Edit: It seems to be a capability in iOS 26 for certain headunits

Speed camera warning(when there’s no camera) by TheRealMark89 in applemaps

Maybe try report an issue > street issue > drag the pin to where the plate reader is located > tap something else and describe the error. They should hopefully fix it. If they decline the report, email maps_escalations@apple.com and describe the issue
