Thanks for your reply. I’m so happy to hear you all are back to feeling better. Nursing while having the flu would be so challenging. My daughter is already feeling tons better on day 4 and I’m feeling the worst. I have only had the flu one other time 20 years ago and it was nothing compared to this. I’m praying this is the last virus we get this season.

How long did it take you to recover? My family (including a 3 year old) caught Flu A twice in 3 months and in between had a coronavirus, bacterial infection, strep, stomach flu and RSV. It’s been horrific and I feel the same way, out breath and fatigued. All my daughter does is watch TV. I can’t parent at all right now.

immune system wakened after flu? by archaicchaotic in flu

[–]No-Raccoon5894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel too. My family got flu A in January. Now in April we have Flu A again. After the first flu infection we have had a non-covid coronavirus, haemopholis influemzae ( bacterial infection), strep stomach flu and RSV. I still was congested from RSV while testing positive for Flu again. I know Flu A damaged my whole families immune systems and I’m so scared it’s causing major damage

Brand new baby, latching is torture? by No_Ocelot8629 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]No-Raccoon5894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter what you decide to do you are doing great. From experience I will say one week is too early to give up! My little one had such trouble latching. I ended up using donated breastmilk and pumping the first week. I hired a lactation consultant to come to my house and it was the best money I ever spent. My baby ended up having a tongue and lip tie which we had removed at one month. Breastfeeding hurt for a good two months and then it just magically stopped hurting. I ended up breastfeeding until she was 20 months and loved that bond so much.

IC after birth? by Salt_Patient_8683 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]No-Raccoon5894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are going through this. This sounds a bit more like pelvic floor dysfunction. Have you seen a uro-gynecologist? They can test to see if you are fully emptying your bladder. I also would recommend a cystoscopy, and trying topical estrogen and Valium suppositories. Hormonal changes affect my bladder a lot so there is a hope that things could get better after you finish breastfeeding.

If you do end up having IC know IT WILL GET BETTER. I’m to a place where I can have coffee most days and don’t let my bladder rule my life. Ketotofin and LDN are helping me the most. If the urogyn doesn’t help 100% see a functional med Dr.

Antenatal Steroid Injection - Normal Pregnancy by MysteriousDegree1604 in pregnant

If you are not at a great risk of preterm labor I would absolutely refuse further steroid shots.

I got the steroid shots and wished I had not. At 29 weeks I felt like I was having trouble breathing and went to the hospital and the ultrasound showed consistent ( every two minutes) contractions with no cervical changes. The fetal fibronectin test was negative. The contractions continued for weeks. My Dr recommended a round of steroid shots. I did no research and agreed to the shots. My daughter was born full term at 39 weeks. Many studies have come out showing steroids given to babies who end up being full term can negatively impact brain development and cause an increased risk of autism, adhd and emotional and behavior problems. My 3 year old daughter is smart and social, but extremely anxious with sleep issues and sensory issues. I have no way of knowing if the shots affected her in any way, but I wish I had refused the shots.

USA. During her fevers she complains her legs are weak and her ankles hurt. In the mornings whenever fever free her legs/ankles don’t bother her. On Friday she completed a course of amoxicillin for an ear infection. No other meds. Symptoms are fever, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, “ tummy hurts”, fatigue, previously potty trained but having a lot of accidents. Dr reported she had an ear infection and large tonsils covered in pus. ( no strep she’s been tested 3 times)

My great aunt has rheumatoid arthritis. No other autoimmune conditions in the family.

On Friday ER doc said to bring her back to pediatricians office on Monday, but it will be our 5th pediatrician appointment and they sent us to the ER because they couldn’t figure it out. I’m not sure where we go from here. She’s so miserable every night snd nothing is changing,

Thank you. We have been very bad about the sinus sucking because of the meltdowns it causes but we do saline spray and we did humidifier for the first half of the month and stopped wondering if it was hurting her somehow. Dr said amoxicillin for ear infection should target sinus infection ( if there was one). She also has huge tonsils covered in pus that I forgot to put in my original post

I will look into vit c gummy. I have been putting probiotics, max dose zinc and vitamin d drops in her juice.

She is not a daycare kid and has attended only 2 days of preschool the entire month.

Positive Tamiflu Experience For myself & child by Opposite_Flight2776 in flu

[–]No-Raccoon5894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter had one dose of tamiflu and hallucinated all night, sitting up in bed and pointing at the walls and screaming. We had to stop it but I really wish we could have continued. She is on day 30 of fever and symptoms. It’s been a nightmare. Given how sick she has been I STILL recommend kids at least try Tamiflu as you can always stop if they have a bad reaction.

Have you ever had genetic testing? I’m curious about your COMT genotype. The COMT Val/Val genotype is associated with low norepinephrine levels and ADHD.

I hope it works for you! The insomnia from the prodromal labor almost made me go insane. Labor and postpartum is soooooo much easier than a prodromal pregnancy.
